“The day after tomorrow is the first National ‘Low-Carbon Day.’ Today, we use cycling to advocate for a low-carbon lifestyle. It not only strengthens our health but also holds greater social significance,” said Mr. Zhang from Wuhan. To celebrate the first National ‘Low-Carbon Day,’ over thirty cycling enthusiasts from across the country rode through Changsha today to promote the concepts of energy conservation, environmental protection, and a low-carbon lifestyle among citizens.
This public welfare event, the second season of “Green Hunan” and themed “Happy Cycling for a Low-Carbon Life,” was organized by Sina Hunan. It recruited cycling enthusiasts online. Starting from downtown Changsha, the riders cycled along routes including Jinshan Road, Meixi Lake Bridge, Huanhu Road, and Qifu Avenue, eventually arriving at Meixi Lake Park. Along the way, the “happy riders” not only experienced the rhythm of a modern city but also strolled at the foot of Yuelu Mountain, visited the shores of Meixi Lake, felt the cultural charm of Changsha, and enjoyed the beauty of natural ecology.
“Nowadays, there are many ‘low-carbon advocates’ in the city who choose to walk or bike instead of driving, use life hacks to reduce electricity and water consumption, and embody a low-carbon attitude in small daily habits,” said Chen Tejun, who participated in today’s cycling event. He expressed hope that this environmental protection activity would plant the seed of eco-consciousness in more people’s hearts, encouraging them to embrace a low-carbon lifestyle and enjoy a green, healthy, and happy life.
A rider from a professional “fixed-gear” cycling team said that modern urbanites often face high stress and increasingly isolate themselves indoors, leading to a decline in communication skills. This “Happy Cycling for a Low-Carbon Life” event allowed everyone to step out of the concrete jungle, enjoy nature’s beauty, and also helped strangers bond through teamwork and mutual support, bringing them closer together and helping many make new friends.
