To most people, being a “volcano chaser” is seen as a daring feat of adults pushing their limits. But now, a 10-year-old girl has already “chased” multiple volcanoes under her father’s guidance. A series of photos published by the UK’s Daily Mail show the brave journey of the world’s youngest “volcano chaser.”
This 10-year-old child is named Molly Ambrose. At the age of nine, she and her father witnessed the power of Vanuatu’s Yassur Volcano. It was also there that three tourists lost their lives due to falling lava. In the photos, Molly is wearing aluminum clothing that can withstand temperatures up to 1,000°C, standing just 200 feet (about 61 meters) away from the terrifying lava to get an up-close view of the volcano. Little Molly said, “It was really loud, rumbling. I was so excited to see the volcano up close, but the smell was strange, kind of like vinegar.”
It is reported that little Molly lives near New Zealand’s North Island’s Mount Taranaki and has already “chased” eight volcanoes. Molly’s father is a professional “volcano chaser,” and Molly hopes to follow in his footsteps after graduating from university. Her mother is also proud of her daughter’s courageous exploits.
