――The 2013 Tibet Charity Research Team of the Self-Travelers Association of Renmin University, Sponsored by Bai Xue Stationery, Visits the SOS Children’s Village in Lhasa
On July 30, the 2013 Tibet Charity Research Team of the Self-Travelers Association of Renmin University, sponsored by Bai Xue Stationery, arrived at the SOS Children’s Village in Lhasa, where they conducted a four-day charity interaction program.
The SOS Children’s Village in Lhasa (hereinafter referred to as the “Children’s Village”) is located in Duilongdeqing County, Lhasa, and is home to over 200 orphans. The children live in 17 family units, each headed by a “mother” responsible for caring for 10 to 13 children of varying ages. The children have diverse personalities—some are quiet and well-behaved, while others are lively and active. A significant number of them are not very talkative, but they all have innocent, trusting eyes.
On the morning of July 30, the charity research team held a brief material handover ceremony and introduced the planned activities. In the afternoon, team members played ice-breaking games with the children in the open area. On August 31, the team invited the children to a fun fair held in the multi-purpose hall, where the children participated in activities such as painting, paper folding, and 3D puzzles, showcasing their intelligence and teamwork. On August 1, coinciding with the Children’s Village sports meet, the team traveled to Beijing Middle School to cheer on the children. On the afternoon of August 2, the team and the children concluded the event with a variety of performances during a farewell party.

Although these children are orphans, they grow up in a large family environment and are not pessimistic. The meticulous care provided by their “mothers” ensures their healthy physical and mental development. They are also very close to their mothers, sharing relationships similar to those in typical families. Living in the Children’s Village, which functions as a large family-oriented community, helps them develop well-rounded personalities. They are intelligent, cheerful, independent, and thoughtful.
