KAILAS Chapter
Throughout the four-day exhibition, KAILAS, VAUDE, and MEINDL’s nearly 1,000-square-meter pavilion drew massive crowds, attracting numerous visitors. At this Asia Outdoor Show, KAILAS focused on showcasing technical climbing gear, including the debut of five new climbing series—mountaineering, rock climbing, and more—each featuring distinctive and technologically advanced products. This was driven not only by the latest product offerings and optimized combinations but also by the application of new materials and technologies. Examples include rock climbing equipment, climbing apparel, extreme series clothing, and lightweight waterproof ultra-thin windbreakers. These products garnered significant attention from on-site visitors.

On July 24 and 25, the professional outdoor brand KAILAS joined forces with TNF, the China Mountaineering Association, and the Asia Outdoor Exhibition to host a large-scale bouldering competition for the show. This collaboration among four major entities marked the first of its kind in the history of the Nanjing outdoor exhibition. Together, they invited top domestic and international climbers to participate, with several KAILAS team members—Wang Qinghua, He Shan Hui, Xie Weicheng, and Liu ?Qing—taking part in the competition, route setting, and other related work.

The event exemplified the unity and harmony of the outdoor community, helping to promote the development of bouldering in China. As Mr. Zhong from KAILAS, the initiator and supporter of the event, stated: “Brands compete with each other, but the growth of the industry requires joint efforts.” Compared to other outdoor sports, domestic mountaineering has seen relatively slower growth. To boost both mountaineering and climbing, this year’s Asia Outdoor Exhibition specially launched a major and unique bouldering competition, bringing these activities into the spotlight for the public and media, thereby expanding participation.

Two products submitted by KAILAS stood out from over 100 entries and were both awarded the Asia Industry Award—they are KAILAS’s latest “Swift” ice screw and the Bull C Men’s Climbing Denim Jeans.

That day, Mr. Christian von Uthmann, President of Polygiene, along with relevant technical personnel from KAILAS and VAUDE, were present to introduce the unique benefits of Polygiene’s odor control technology. The press conference also attracted numerous industry journalists to attend and report. During the exhibition, KAILAS organized several outdoor exchange sessions, including an on-site lecture by the Shenzhen Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT) on “rope lowering techniques,” a widely applicable and important skill in outdoor activities. Under the guidance of instructors, many attendees got hands-on experience. In addition, a climbing presentation by KAILAS climber Liu Yong on his latest 2013 ascent of the “Path of Peace” on Longjiao Peak in the South China Sea in April also drew considerable attention. Clips from the various 2013 KAILAS Rock Finding China route-setting events also became highlights of the onsite activities.
