On August 20, the press conference for the 2013 Shangri-La Super Run was held in Beijing. Yang Xiaohong, Deputy County Head of Shangri-La County, attended the event. She introduced Shangri-La’s natural resources and the race details to the attending renowned runners and major media, and extended a heartfelt invitation to running enthusiasts across the country.

Shangri-La ― nestled in the heart of the “Three Parallel Rivers” region, this magical land where colorful Yunnan meets the Tibetan Plateau has long been a utopia sought after by people around the world. In the most beautiful season of golden autumn in October, the “2013 Shangri-La Super Run” ― the inaugural Shangri-La International Trail Race will be held here.

The race is scheduled to start on October 1, 2013, with the starting point at Shangri-La Moonlight Square. It will pass through Dukezong Ancient Town, a key stop on the ancient Tea Horse Road, the famous Shika Snow Mountain scenic area, the international wetland reserve Napa Lake, and Yila Grassland among other resort destinations. Trail runners from both China and abroad will traverse snow-capped mountains, canyons, grasslands, alpine lakes, primeval forests, and ethnic villages. Amidst the dynamic interaction with natural and cultural landscapes, they will challenge the extreme course with an average altitude of 3,500 meters and ultimately complete the 100km trail run.
This event is hosted by the People’s Government of Shangri-La, organized by Extreme Explore and Riyuelinka, with co-organizer Style Elegance. All have extensive experience in organizing domestic and international races. The race also features a 50km category, a 10km category, and a public experience group, encouraging more people to head outdoors, embrace nature through trail running, challenge themselves, improve fitness, and connect with their inner selves.
In less than a month of promotional buildup, the race has generated widespread and positive influence among running enthusiasts nationwide. By then, over a hundred top trail runners from China and abroad will gather here to run with heart. The Shangri-La Super Run is set to become one of the most stunning highlights in China’s trail racing scene.
