Last updated 2026-09-25 — After three years of continuous effort and consistent execution, New Zealand’s nationwide network of cycling routes has finally transformed from paper plans into real, convenient facilities. Brand-new bike paths, fresh air, and ever-changing scenery... By the end of 2013, all 22 of New Zealand's "Great Rides" will be completed...
The "Challenge 8 Hours" charitable hiking and trail running event is organized by the China Youth Development Foundation. It promotes the power of walking to help rural children enjoy reading and growing happily. The event aims to mobilize widespread social support to raise funds, using participants' actions to inspire those around them, gather more compassion, and fulfill the reading dreams of rural children.
Ms. Wei, who has just signed up for the "Challenge 8 Hours" trail race, is a full-time mom who usually stays at home as a "homemaker." Years of managing household chores gradually made her lose the motivation and enthusiasm to exercise outdoors. However, as she gets older, she increasingly realizes the importance of good health. Upon learning about the "Challenge 8 Hours" competition, her passion for sports was reignited. She thought this was a great opportunity to get active and regain her vitality. Her husband fully supports her and is willing to join the race with her. The couple both finds the format of the "Challenge 8 Hours" trail race novel and meaningful—it’s a joyful way to exercise while helping children in mountainous areas read more extracurricular books, which delights them.
This is Ms. Wei’s first time doing "fundraising," and she admits to feeling quite nervous about this method of raising money, unsure how much support she will receive. But she insists on persuading friends and family to donate in order to complete the task. She says the ultimate goal is actually to let more people learn about the event and the "Happy Reading" project, encouraging them to get involved in public welfare.
Ms. Wei said that although her son is not currently studying in Beijing, she will encourage him to take time out so the whole family of three can go to Jinshanling together to take on the challenge.
What are you waiting for? Hurry up and call your family to reignite your passion for sports, help mountain children "read happily," and let’s use positive energy to change each other’s lives.
