"Challenge 8 Hours" is a charitable trail-running event organized by the China Youth Development Foundation. Our slogan is "Your small step today is a big step for children's future." We advocate using the power of walking to help rural children enjoy reading and growing up happily.
Recently, Gu Zhengzheng, head of the "Challenge 8 Hours" project and Director of Public Promotion at the China Youth Development Foundation, and Guan Yue, the project's "Goodwill Ambassador," shared their thoughts on "Challenge 8 Hours" and charity.
Renowned actors Guan Yue and Tong Dawei have been committed to charity work in recent years. At the first "Challenge 8 Hours" event last year, we invited Mr. Tong Dawei to be a goodwill ambassador. This year, we are also honored to have Ms. Guan Yue join the "Challenge 8 Hours" family to promote the event. Guan Yue believes that the "Challenge 8 Hours" charitable trail race is very meaningful. It guides people to help rural children while combining it with outdoor sports, which also helps strengthen the body and temper the will. The spirit of self-transcendence and perseverance in hiking also applies to the cause of charity. In the process of doing good, the greatest reward is having one’s persistence recognized. Guan Yue mentioned that she was deeply moved by the slogan of Challenge 8 Hours: "Your small step today is a big step for children's future." Knowledge determines destiny, and reading is very important for a child’s life—that is the deeper meaning of this project.
Ms. Gu Zhengzheng from the China Youth Development Foundation stated that this year’s "Happy Reading" initiative will focus on Luanping County in Jinshanling, Hebei Province, the location of the "Challenge 8 Hours" event. This is a national-level poverty-stricken county, and through the cooperation of this trail-running project, we hope to help local children receive a better education.
