The President of the Tourism Agency of the Aosta Valley Autonomous Region sent a letter of condolence.
The organizers of Tor des Géants conducted an investigation in accordance with strict medical and legal procedures and officially announced the identity of the athlete who died last night on the road toward Valgrisenche, near Fond Lake, at the foot of the Crosatie pass.
The athlete’s name is YANG YUAN, bib number 1040, a 1970-born Chinese national. The accident was caused by the athlete falling and sustaining fatal head injuries.
The organizers of Tor des Géants have contacted the emergency contact designated by the athlete at the time of registration, and the emergency contact is already on the way to Aosta.
