According to the Chinese Mountaineering Association, on the 14th, the second national mountain rescue technology training course commenced in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, with a total of 26 participants from mountaineering and outdoor clubs, Red Cross rescue teams, local mountaineering teams, enterprises, and university mountaineering societies attending the training.
The training course was organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and hosted by the Sports Industry Group of the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Bureau and the Shaanxi Mountain Rescue Team. Four outstanding coaches in China provided training on mountain rescue theory and practical technical skills for the participants, aiming to enhance the overall quality of mountain rescue personnel across Shaanxi, strengthen the promotion and familiarization with mountain rescue techniques, and lay a solid foundation for establishing a high-quality, high-level national rescue team and mountain rescue system.
This training course lasts nine days and covers a wide range of topics. It adopts a teaching format that combines theoretical study with hands-on practice. Training content includes explanations of personal and rescue equipment, basic search theory and methods, rope techniques, and more. The course concludes with theoretical and practical assessments to evaluate teaching and learning outcomes. Those who pass the exams will be awarded a National Mountain Rescue Technology Training Qualification Certificate.
Luo Shen, Director of the Mountaineering and Alpine Expedition Department of the Chinese Mountaineering Association, pointed out at the opening ceremony: “Mountain rescue technology training is an important entry point and key initiative for the Chinese Mountaineering Association to build a distinctive Chinese mountaineering and outdoor rescue system. Standardizing and promoting mountain rescue techniques can not only improve local mountain rescue capabilities and successfully carry out rescues, but more importantly, it helps raise awareness of safety and the theoretical level among personnel in mountainous areas and regions where outdoor sports are concentrated. The Chinese Mountaineering Association will, guided by the principle of government leadership, local rescue organizations as the main body, and broad participation from all sectors of society, gradually establish a coordinated working mechanism involving the government, rescue organizations, and volunteers. This will effectively enhance the 'service, guidance, and regulation' management and supervision mechanisms, intensify training for the concepts and techniques of mountain rescue volunteers across the country, make mountaineering and outdoor rescue work more efficient, and ensure that mountain rescue safeguards the healthy development of mountaineering and outdoor sports.”
