A 19-year-old girl in Shenzhen was climbing Wutong Mountain alone when she accidentally rolled down an 80-meter-deep ravine and got trapped. Early on the 16th, firefighters and concerned citizens in Shenzhen worked together to rescue the girl and sent her to the hospital for treatment.
China News Service, Shenzhen, September 16 (Zheng Xiaohong, Huang Yining, Ning Jinyang) — A 19-year-old girl in Shenzhen was climbing Wutong Mountain alone when she accidentally rolled down an 80-meter-deep ravine. She was found by hikers after being trapped in the mountains for three days and two nights. Early on the 16th, firefighters and concerned citizens in Shenzhen worked together to rescue the girl and sent her to the hospital for treatment.
At around 2 p.m. on September 15, several hikers from the Blue Sky Mountain Rescue Team were conducting training on Wutong Mountain when they discovered a trapped girl near the ravine close to the Lingyun Path of Little Wutong.
It is understood that the girl, around 19 years old, had accidentally rolled into the ravine while hiking on the 13th and couldn’t find a way out. “When we saw the girl, she looked very exhausted. She hadn’t eaten for three days and two nights and had survived on mountain spring water,” said the hiker from the Blue Sky Rescue Team who found her. They immediately called other team members to the scene to assist with the rescue.
However, on the way to the scene, heavy rain started falling on the mountain. The girl was completely weak and unable to walk, crying out in pain whenever moved. While waiting, the hikers shared their own food and water with the girl. After trying several rescue methods without success, the hikers called the police to notify the fire department for assistance.
At 10:37 p.m. that day, the Tianbei Fire Squadron received the emergency call, and 12 officers immediately rushed to the scene. The firefighters quickly launched the rescue operation, using safety ropes to lower two soldiers down to the 80-meter-deep ravine. They then secured the girl on a multi-functional stretcher and used a method of pulling up and pushing from below to gradually lift her up along the nearly 80-degree cliff. Heavy rain fell again during the rescue, adding to the difficulty.
At 0:16 a.m. on September 16, after nearly an hour and a half of tense rescue efforts, the girl was successfully brought to the mountaintop. The rescued girl was urgently sent to Shawan Hospital. It is reported that by that time, nearly 50 enthusiastic members of the Shenzhen Mountain Rescue Team and the Blue Sky Rescue Team had arrived at the scene. (End)
