On the eve of National Day, the Mafengwo 2013 "Future Travelers" selection event was held at the 798 Joy Art Museum in Beijing. Fifteen seasoned travel enthusiasts, including Wu Fei, David Lau, and Traveler Orange, won nine different "Future Traveler" awards.
Mafengwo selected the most representative "Future Travelers" based on the criterion of personalized travel. The judging panel included Mafengwo Travel Network’s two co-founders—CEO Chen Gang and COO Lü Gang. The competition also invited Huang Yun, editor-in-chief of Fashion Travel magazine, Wang Bin, editor-in-chief of National Geographic magazine China, and Zhang [surname unclear] from the Phoenix Online Travel Channel as judges. The panel shortlisted 10 candidates, and after an online public vote, 15 "Future Travelers" were ultimately selected.
At the award ceremony, Mafengwo co-founder and COO Lü Gang, together with Nabil He, the chief representative of the Tunisian National Tourism Office, and Zhou Xiaoping, director of the Information Center of the Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Bureau, along with Mafengwo co-founder and CEO Chen Gang, presented trophies to the award winners.
Wu Fei won the "Future Traveler" Annual Travel Style Award, and he became widely known for writing the book "Working Holiday."
The "Annual International Traveler" award went to Spanish singer David Lau.
