Just 1 day to go ! On October 10, the 3rd Asia Bike Show will officially kick off at the Nanjing International Expo Center. This year, 394 high-end bicycle, cycling apparel, and accessories brands will showcase a variety of new products set to launch in 2014. The first two days of the show are open only to trade visitors, while October 12–13 are public days with an admission fee of 20 RMB.
Cycling becomes a trend
In the past, bicycles were mainly used as a means of transportation. In recent years, low-carbon, environmentally friendly, and green cycling have gradually become a fashionable lifestyle. More and more people are joining this healthy and eco-friendly sport—whether for short rides or long journeys to Tibet—experiencing travel that brings them closer to nature, both physically and mentally, and enjoying the charm of cycling !
Many cities across China have established sizable cycling clubs, forums, or associations to organize group rides, promote cycling culture, improve fitness, and bring people closer together, all while gaining happiness and health along the way. Against this growing cycling enthusiasm, Nanjing is also stepping up its game. The government has planned 1,000 kilometers of greenways and is vigorously promoting cycling, striving to make Nanjing an international cycling city on par with Copenhagen and Melbourne. The municipal government has also organized various mass cycling events and is actively preparing for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, which will include road cycling, mountain biking, and BMX as official events. Additionally, the Nanjing Cycling Association was established at the end of 2012. With support from the international sports community, Nanjing will also host an international cycling race this November. The annual Asia Bike Show, as the leading professional sports cycling exhibition in Asia, will spare no effort in boosting the development and spread of Nanjing’s cycling culture.

This year, the Asia Bike Show features an indoor exhibition area of 26,000 square meters and an outdoor area of 10,000 square meters. A total of 394 domestic and international high-end bicycle, cycling apparel, and accessories brands will display their 2014 new products, including 317 international brands, accounting for 80.5% of all exhibitors. Brands such as BMC, BH, Bianchi, Bergamont, Cervelo, Cannondale, GT, Corratec, Deuter, Haibike, Ghost, Pinarello, Shimano, Specialized, Scott, Tern, Vaude, X-Bionic, and others will showcase their latest 2014 products and technologies. These cover high-end bicycles, mountain bikes, road bikes, urban bikes, E-BIKE electric-assist sport bikes, kids’ bikes, fixed-gear bikes, BMX bikes, folding bikes, cycling apparel, and a wide range of bike accessories.
Not only are there many highlights throughout the exhibition period, but the activities are also diverse and colorful. Especially on the public days of October 12 and 13, events such as the Asia Bike Queen Finals and the Polo Fixed-Gear Competition will be truly spectacular.
Special Exhibitions within the Show :Throughout the exhibition, located at Booth B7500 in Hall B, 50 luxury sport bikes will be on display, featuring high-end bikes, sport bikes, kids’ bikes, and electric-assist bikes. Among them, the unique all-terrain bike, suitable for various terrains with its oversized tires, is especially eye-catching; a HAIBIKE electric-assist mountain bike worth about 50,000 RMB offers easier and faster mountain riding with electric support; a PINARELLO DOGMA 65.1 road bike worth around 150,000 RMB, a Tour de France champion model, subtly reveals the heroic stance of a Tour winner; and a CHIRU kids’ mountain bike in bright green fulfills children’s dreams of mountain biking—definitely worth a look.
Fashion Show :Throughout the exhibition, 2–3 shows per day at the AB Entrance Hall. Professional dancers will passionately showcase the charm of cycling apparel. Top domestic and international brands such as ATEMPO, JAKROO, LAMBDA, OYAMA, PEARL IZUMI, SHIMANO, and X-BIONIC will present their 2014 new cycling apparel collections on the fashion show stage.
Lecture Area and Industry Forum :Throughout the exhibition, at A9100 in Hall A. In addition to brand new product launches, cycling gear explanations, and professional cycling knowledge sharing during the first two days, the public days of October 12–13 will feature special lectures for the general public. Topics include how to choose the right sport bike for yourself, how to adjust your bike, explanations of special repair tools, and introductions to mountain bike theme parks.
Asia Bike Queen Contest :Throughout the exhibition with parade displays. The Asia Bike Queen Finals will be held on October 12 from 14:10–15:20 at the AB Entrance Hall. Beautiful young women dressed in cycling gear and riding bikes will fully showcase the cycling spirit of “youth, vitality, elegance, fashion, and beauty” through this competition.
Test Track :Throughout the exhibition, located at the East Plaza outside the exhibition hall. There are two separate tracks: one is a mountain bike test track, built with natural materials such as soil, stones, and wood, featuring slopes and turns to simulate mountain road experiences; the other is a road bike and E-BIKE test track, where brands provide complete bikes and arrange guided test rides. Interested participants can register for test rides with their visitor badge (or public day ticket) and valid ID.
Polo Matches and Fixed-Gear Performances :Throughout the exhibition, located at the East Plaza outside the exhibition hall. Twelve teams from China and abroad will participate in polo matches and pole competitions. Among them, the renowned "German Fixed-Gear Queen" Izumi and Asian Cycling Legend Liao Wuxiong, along with members of Team Little Bear, will deliver fixed-gear stunt performances. The polo preliminaries and finals will be thrillingly showcased on October 12. Additionally, there will be live bike polo tutorials, demonstrations, and exciting lucky draw sessions.
Upland Park Extreme Performance Area : Throughout the exhibition, located at the East Plaza outside the exhibition hall. Five globally renowned competitive riders from the United States and the Czech Republic will deliver thrilling and exciting BMX extreme performances.
Children’s Leisure Area :Throughout the exhibition, located in the corridor on the right side of the entrance to Hall A. Considering that some parents may bring their children to the show, the organizers have set up a special “Children’s Leisure Area,” where kids can use crayons and paper to draw their ideal bicycles. The organizers also prepare snacks, small gifts, and cute animated shows for the children, fully reflecting the humanized service of the Asia Bike Show.
Upgrade in Supporting Services
Admission :The professional visitor days for this year’s Asia Bike Show are October 10–11; the last two days of the show (12 and 13) are public days. Interested citizens can purchase tickets for 20 RMB. Students with valid student IDs enjoy half-price entry, and children under 7 years old are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
Transportation :Visitors arriving by car can choose the parking lots at the north or east gates of the exhibition hall. Those taking the metro should get off at Yuantong Station and exit from Exit 4 to enter the hall through the north gate, which is more eco-friendly and convenient.
On-site service points:Thoughtful facilities such as free drinking water stations, medical aid points, diverse dining options, and area WiFi connections are available to make your visit more convenient.
Warm tips:
1. As the Asia Bike Show is a trade exhibition, most exhibitors do not sell the display bikes directly on-site. However, interested visitors can place orders and reserve bikes during the show, then collect them from the stores afterward.
2. If you wish to participate in test rides in the on-site testing area, please remember to bring a valid ID.
