China News Service, Dec. 23 — According to a Dec. 21 report on the Russian news website Komsomolskaya Pravda, 500 Siberians stripped to the waist and skied alongside American athletes. The event is considered one of the most extraordinary achievements in the Guinness World Records and will be officially recorded.
A considerable number of Guinness World Records have been set by Russians. This time, they’ve added another miracle to the international record books — people skiing down a giant slope in swimsuits.
Alexey "Kamel Sanov," a tourist from Novosibirsk, told our reporter how he organized this bare-chested event. It’s no easy feat to strip down in freezing conditions: with snow all around, many couldn’t even bring themselves to take off their shirts.
“Although today’s weather isn’t exactly promising — it’s sleet — a lot of people still came. We even invited shamans to help improve the weather. They performed various rituals, and we believe it’ll work,” Alexey joked about the preparations for this snowy bikini-style event.
In the end, the event was a great success, with over 700 participants joining in this unique gathering. The Guinness World Records has acknowledged that the Russians have truly achieved another miracle. The actual number of participants was slightly fewer than initially counted — around 500 — but regardless, a skiing event like this has never been held anywhere else before.
Now, publishers have begun the process of officially including this new record in the Guinness World Records book: they’re among the best of all records. Online, the final winner will be announced after a public vote.
One-sixteenth of the skiers have already advanced to the finals, followed by the quarterfinals and semifinals. The semifinals are currently underway, with voting taking place from Dec. 20 to 23.
The largest swimsuit parade on sleds — which in English sounds like a bikini skiing competition — lasts for one hour. Participants ski while performing jumps — scored according to jump rope records. American athletes also took part, with one managing 12,000 jumps with both feet off the ground within an hour.
Now it’s time for the vote. This will determine who gets the chance to enter the Guinness World Records: women in sports attire, or hundreds of beauties (and hunks) in swimsuits.
This is the grand Siberian Sled Bikini Parade.
