Vertical Marathon originated in 1978 as a popular sporting activity involving climbing the Empire State Building in the United States (86 floors, 1,576 steps). Today, it is participated in by millions around the world and has become an internationally popular fitness activity that transcends age and gender, and is not limited by venue, time, or weather. Abroad, the Vertical Marathon is known as the “King of Sports,” and in many countries, it has even become a classic event in mass sports. In addition, the races are held in iconic local buildings, reflecting the economic development and quality of life of the host region, which is why the event attracts many mid- to high-end participants.
Vertical Marathon in China is still in its early stages. Therefore, Today’s Sports is working closely with the General Administration of Sport of China to build a competitive platform for Chinese Vertical Marathon runners and promote the vigorous development of the sport domestically. The two parties will jointly launch the “Vertical Marathon China Championships,” which will be the only officially authorized national-level Vertical Marathon event in China. As the exclusive commercial operator of the event, Today’s Sports will work closely with multiple host cities in the coming period to provide vertical running enthusiasts with a formal, professional, and international competition.
The Vertical Marathon China Championships uphold the philosophy of “health, environmental protection, and mass participation,” strongly advocating for public welfare, climbing enthusiasm, active participation in physical exercise, and a healthy lifestyle. This event is officially certified by the International Skyrunning Federation and approved by the General Administration of Sport of China to be held in iconic Chinese landmarks. The competition consists of three escalating levels: the “Vertical Marathon China Championships Series,” the “Vertical Marathon China Championships Gold Race,” and the “Vertical Marathon China Championships Final.” Chinese winners of the final will be organized by Today’s Sports to participate in the “Vertical Marathon World Cup” international invitational event of the year.
As the exclusive commercial operator, Today’s Sports will be fully responsible for the planning, packaging, venue selection, approvals, promotion, and sponsorship acquisition of the Vertical Marathon China Championships. Currently, Today’s Sports has already entered negotiations with several partners, and the first race is just around the corner. “We welcome collaboration with all partners to drive the great development of the Vertical Marathon cause in China,” said Today’s Sports.
