Don’t go to the wrong place！New Taipei’s Shifen Waterfall will close an hour earlier starting tomorrow

Shifen Waterfall Park has adjusted its opening hours to align with winter time. From October 1 to May 31, 2017, the park will open at 9:00 AM, with the last admission at 4:30 PM, and closing at 5:00 PM.

The New Taipei City Government’s Department of Tourism pointed out that Shifen Waterfall Park has different opening hours for summer and winter. During summer time (June to September), the park opens at 9:00 AM, with the last admission at 5:30 PM and closes at 6:00 PM. In winter time (October to May), the opening time remains the same, but the last admission and closing times are moved up by one hour to ensure visitor safety. The tourism department reminds visitors that Shifen Waterfall Park is located in a mountainous area, so extra caution should be taken when leaving in the evening.

Shifen Waterfall Park is home to Taiwan’s largest curtain-style waterfall and entry is free. The recommended route is via the road in front of the Shifen Visitor Center, leading directly to the Green Corridor Trail. The New Taipei City Government stated that Shifen Waterfall is a major attraction in the city, drawing many tourists from Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, and Korea. Common travel routes often include nearby attractions such as the Eyeglass Cave Waterfall, Siguangtan Suspension Bridge, and Shifen Old Street. Visitors can also take the Pingxi Branch Line train to Jingmei and Pingxi for a deeper experience, enjoying the quaint town scenery, stunning natural beauty, and experiencing the traditional sky lantern culture of Pingxi.
