On May 9, the highly anticipated “Rock Hunting China” team of KAILAS held a media meet in Beijing, where the new team made a collective debut. “Rock Hunting China” is an initiative launched by the professional outdoor brand KAILAS, involving a route-setting team composed of top domestic and international climbers. Over a period of time, they seek out China’s yet-to-be-developed rock climbing areas and develop high-quality climbing routes.

This year, the Rock Hunting team has grown even stronger, led by KAILAS climbing team members Xie Weicheng and Zhao Zhongjun, and joined by more domestic elites such as Zhang Xiaoliu, Qiu Jiang, Zhang Yong, Su Feng, Marcos, Li Lan, and Lie Hun. At the media meet, Zhao Zhongjun first introduced this year’s four Rock Hunting locations (Fangshan in Beijing, Benxi in Liaoning, Leshan in Chengdu, and Shigu in Lijiang) along with the activity plans to the media, and then he and the other eight team members interacted and shared insights with the attending media friends.

During the subsequent launch ceremony, representatives from the KAILAS brand and the Rock Hunting team together hammered a KAILAS hanger into a rock face — a reenactment of the actual route-setting process — as a way to wish the 2014 “Rock Hunting China” a successful and smooth run.

Through “Rock Hunting China,” the KAILAS brand hopes to help more people develop a love for and participate in rock climbing, allow more climbing enthusiasts to experience the thrill of climbing natural rock walls, and promote the development of rock climbing in China.
