As the heat rolls in, another wave of students is gearing up for summer travel plans, especially the soon-to-be graduates of the class of 2014. Where can they find the most joy for their graduation trip? According to our website’s statistics, the top choice is the Great Huangguoshu Tourism Circle in Guizhou. So what exactly has captured the attention of so many young students? Let’s take a closer look.

The Huangguoshu Waterfall has been famous for years, but in today’s Great Huangguoshu Tourism Circle, we find it has evolved into something quite unique — it’s no longer just about the waterfall itself. The surrounding ancient town attractions are even more captivating. In the Great Huangguoshu Tourism Circle, there are plenty of hotels and dining options with stable prices. The food choices are abundant, such as “Bobo Candy,” made through over ten processes including steaming, pressing, boiling, stretching, and laminating; “Luoguo” (grilled skewers), which perfectly showcases the charred aroma of food paired with spicy dipping sauces; and “Sticky Rice,” which is both crispy and soft. There’s also the ethnic-style batik fabric, exquisitely crafted and worthy of collection. The locals are warm and hospitable, and when you put on these traditional ethnic costumes, the rich cultural vibe becomes even more pronounced.

The construction of the Huangguoshu Doupotang–Banbian Street Slow Tourism Trail fully showcases the wisdom and creativity of Huangguoshu: based on the area’s distinctive karst landforms, the natural ecological green space has been restored. The “Banbian Street” has been transformed into a 3.5-kilometer-long slow tourism boardwalk, with new attractions and activities such as the Xiazhi Cave and Flower Garden added. A 360° viewing platform for the waterfall has been created, allowing visitors to overlook the grand waterfall from above. An international-standard RV campsite has been completed, complementing the waterfall, Gothic church, and natural scenery to form a brand-new leisure camping and sightseeing experience.

According to our website, this year the Huangguoshu Scenic Area will enhance infrastructure related to self-driving tours. In addition to building RV campsites, efforts will be made to further upgrade and expand parking lots, hotels, and other facilities. This will promote the development of self-driving tourism markets from Guizhou, Chongqing, Sichuan, and Chengdu, strengthening connections with nearby Southeast Guizhou and Southwest Guizhou tourism areas. With Huangguoshu Scenic Area at its core, a vibrant and colorful Guizhou tourism experience is being created.

Today’s Huangguoshu is no longer the old concept of “just one waterfall and one bridge.” In recent years, the development of the Huangguoshu Scenic Area has been advancing by leaps and bounds. Currently, an international-standard RV camping base has been established within the scenic area. The RV campsite complements the waterfall, Gothic church, eco-friendly wooden boardwalks, and natural landscapes, forming a new emerging industry that combines leisure camping and sightseeing experiences. Overall, today’s Huangguoshu feels more like a mysterious ethnic tribal experience, with its unique food, clothing, accommodation, and sights that are truly captivating, offering both domestic and international tourists a deeper taste of the distinctive charm of Guizhou tourism.
