Kayaking is an important traditional outdoor activity in Europe. For many years, water sports gear has had its own dedicated exhibition, but this year kayaking will once again return to the main venue of the European Outdoor Show. At the upcoming 21st edition of the European Outdoor Show, opening on July 10, over twenty international water sports exhibitors will showcase water sports-related products, and a newly added "Boating Day" will be a major attraction for visitors. Recent news released by the European Outdoor Show states that boat designs are trending toward lighter weights, boating is easy to learn and suitable for family interaction; these factors have accelerated the growth of water sports, and boating also makes camping more fun. Currently in Europe, canoeing and kayaking are becoming new market growth areas.
The water sports market in China is still in its infancy but is growing rapidly. It is understood that retail sales of water sports equipment have increased rapidly in recent years, with around 50 kayaking clubs in China currently organizing water sports activities, and the participant base continues to expand. The 9th Asia Outdoor Show, to be held in Nanjing from July 23–26, will set up a “Water Sports Equipment Zone” at the entrance of Hall A, displaying products such as kayaks, inflatable boats, diving gear, and accessories. An inflatable pool will also be set up outside Hall A for professional kayaking demonstrations and audience participation. Among them, diving is a highlight of this year’s Water Sports Equipment Zone. The cooperating partner, Guangzhou Padi Diving Five-Star Coach Development Center, is a well-known diving center and PADI training provider in China. The 2014 Asia Outdoor Show will host forums and lectures on diving topics on-site, and will also showcase the appeal of this outdoor sport through a diving photo exhibition.
