From July 24–25, the 2014 Asia Outdoor Industry Forum, hosted by the Asia Outdoor Exhibition, took place during the exhibition period. This year’s forum invited professionals from various fields within the industry—including representatives from Gore, MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR, Sanfo Outdoor, the National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Textiles and Apparel (Guangzhou), and the UK-based Liberation Design company—to engage in extensive exchanges, receiving unanimous praise from attendees.

At this year’s forum, the presentation titled “The Positive and Negative Impacts of E-commerce on Multi-brand Outdoor Dealers,” delivered by Mr. Zhao Mengyi, Manager of the Online Sales Department at Sanfo Outdoor, garnered significant attention from participants. The e-commerce industry has developed rapidly in recent years, becoming an emerging sales channel for the outdoor sector and providing new momentum for its continued growth. However, there remain many questions and even misconceptions about the e-commerce model within China’s outdoor industry. This speech provided explanations and analysis on a series of issues regarding the application of the e-commerce model in the outdoor industry, and offered a comprehensive set of solutions. It laid both a theoretical foundation and practical methods to help the industry adapt more quickly to e-commerce sales models.

Mr. Rao Jianhui, Senior Engineer at the National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Textiles and Apparel (Guangzhou), introduced the situation concerning toxic and hazardous textiles in recent years and provided the industry with testing channels to avoid such hazards, promoting the greener and more environmentally friendly development of China’s outdoor industry.

Mr. Stephen Cowles, Creative Director for Liberation in China, drew on over a decade of retail design experience and, in light of the realities of China’s outdoor industry, shared international best practices for improving the quality of retail store design.
