Red Bull Extreme Jump Skateboard Competition Makes a Splash in Hangzhou Top Skaters Battle on the "Magpie Bridge" on Qixi Festival
From August 2 to 3, the 2014 Red Bull DragonSK8 Extreme Jump Skateboard Competition will be held at Xianghu Lotus Villa in Hangzhou. After a thorough selection process by the organizing committee, 24 skaters from five teams—representing the United States, Canada, China, Hong Kong (China), and Taiwan (China)—stood out from numerous applicants to compete for the total prize money of 40,000 RMB. The first day of preliminary rounds consists of two heats, where five judges score participants based on aerial tricks, personal style, lines, and other factors. The top 16 advance to the finals the next day, where a grueling head-to-head single-elimination format will determine the champion. Additionally, a special Best Trick competition will be held on the finals day, with a prize of 5,000 RMB.

The pros are ready for the competition, and aside from the regular events, they are also looking forward to the Best Trick contest. Wang Guohua said: “My signature trick is a 360 flip with a shove-it and a tailslide—I’ve been practicing that one for a while.”
Beyond the competition, the organizing committee has prepared a romantic twist. On the evening of Qixi Festival, after the preliminary rounds, skaters can show off their skills on the course to express their personality and win over the ladies. Eight “Red Bull beauties” will serve as judges, each holding three roses to cast their votes for their favorite skaters. The competitor who receives the most roses can then choose one of the “Red Bull beauties” to release a sky lantern with, creating a romantic memory.
Both days of the competition will officially begin at 2:00 PM. With lotus flowers, lake water, lawns, music, trendy guys, and beautiful girls… this Qixi Festival is set to be truly unforgettable thanks to the 2014 Red Bull DragonSK8 Extreme Jump Skateboard Competition.
