What you haven’t even thought of, Changi has already taken care of. The world’s best airport, Changi, has once again rolled out thoughtful services. In the future, when you visit the Lion City, you may no longer see long queues, but instead ground staff wearing“smart glasses”during security checks, helping passengers shorten check-in time and head straight to the duty-free shopping area.
Lonely Planet websitereports that Changi is using a technology called augmented reality (AR), where employees equipped with smart glasses can perform tasks such as scanning labels, checking baggage weight codes, loading and unloading sequences, and more.
Ground handling company SATS announced that 600 ground staff will be equipped with the glasses, enabling each of them to access real-time information. As a result, it is roughly estimated that around 15 minutes will be saved.
“This new technology will directly benefit our staff, significantly improving their efficiency while also maintaining Changi Airport’s competitiveness,” said Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Public Works, Khaw Boon Wan.
