My girlfriend Mo Mo and I have been in a relationship for three years. The busy life and work gradually made our days more mundane. We lived day by day, planning work, planning to buy a car and a house—there was so much pressure, and life became dull and uninteresting.
Mo Mo is a sporty girl who also loves traveling. When she was in college, she often traveled alone. Because of her love for travel, she’s also very keen on outdoor gear.
She is such an individualistic, freedom-loving girl, but after being with me, she had to deal with the daily grind of life, yet never complained. This has always made me feel guilty, and I’ve tried hard to give her a better life.
Life may be monotonous, but we are still very affectionate. Occasionally, we’d go on a two-day trip together, but never too far—just visiting nearby cities. Due to time and financial constraints, we could only stay briefly. Each time, I could see Mo Mo’s reluctance to leave, but there was nothing we could do.
Mo Mo is still passionate about outdoor gear, though she doesn’t buy as frequently anymore because she says she wants to save money with me to buy a house and finally enjoy the fruits of our labor. But she still browses those websites often, follows updates on outdoor gear, and loves saving pictures of the equipment. Among them, I noticed that brands like Pioneer, Rush Outdoor, and Camel are her favorites—her browser history is full of those outdoor products.
In early lunar June this year, I started planning to surprise Mo Mo on this year’s Qixi Festival. I wanted to do something touching or give her an unusual gift. Well, who says I’m not a model boyfriend? The thought of making Mo Mo happy secretly delighted me.
Tibet is a place Mo Mo has always wanted to visit. When we first started dating, she told me more than once how badly she wanted to trek through Tibet purely on foot, to experience real outdoor travel and not have any regrets in life. Thinking of this, I finally knew what I had to do.
A month in advance, I told my boss I needed at least half a month off for Qixi. After getting approval, I worked overtime to complete a lot of tasks and handled all the handovers to ensure a worry-free trip.
To trek purely through Tibet, a good set of outdoor gear was essential. While Mo Mo wasn’t around, I researched outdoor products. After comparing several brands, I realized my taste matched hers—the products from Rush Outdoor were the best. It turns out we really do share the same great taste—we make a perfect couple.

During the trip, thanks to the quality gear and my flawless, grand plan, everything went smoothly. Along the way, she teased me into singing the super-popular song “Little Apple.” I told her that now, Rush Outdoor is my little apple. She giggled, and that laughter made me realize this was the greatest happiness.
Finally, I understood that accompanying her in doing what she loves is the happiest thing of all.
