On September 14, the 2014 Beijing International Triathlon Olympic Distance Race started at Beijing Garden Expo Park. The competition included swimming, cycling, and running, with both the start and finish points set within the park, and was hailed as the “most beautiful triathlon course.” The 2014 Beijing International Triathlon and the half-distance triathlon held the previous day attracted nearly 1,300 athletes from over 40 countries and regions. Gomez, ranked No. 1 in the world and the silver medalist in the triathlon at the 2012 London Olympics, lived up to expectations by crossing the finish line first with a time of 1 hour and 55 minutes to claim the men’s professional division title. The women’s professional division champion was 23-year-old Australian Jette, who finished in 2 hours and 8 minutes.
