About the Qaidam Basin:
The Qaidam Basin is vast, rugged, and primitive, covering a huge expanse, and is known as the “Treasure Basin.” Located in the northern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and surrounded by the Kunlun Mountains and its branches, the Altyn-Tagh and Qilian Mountains, it stretches approximately850 kilometers from east to west and about 300 kilometers from north to south, covering an area of257768square kilometers.
