The Amazon Basin is the largest plain in the world, vast in area and rich in vegetation. Due to the presence of the world’s largest and most extensive river by discharge and basin size, the famous “Lungs of the Earth” – the Amazon Rainforest – was formed here. It spans eight countries and accounts for20%of the world’s forested area, making it the largest and most species-rich tropical rainforest on the planet. At the same time, due to its complex environment and abundant biodiversity, with few human inhabitants, it has also become a true “remote and mysterious place.”
This Explorers Amazon field research expedition lasted eight days and took place during the low-water season of the Amazon’s flooded forests – an ideal period for outdoor observation and research. Aside from relying on professional outdoor exploration skills to ensure their safety in theremote wilderness, the Explorers team members also undertook various field research tasks under the training and guidance of “Guardians of the Earth” scientists. These included monitoring the Amazon pink river dolphin, the Amazon caiman, macaws, water birds (such as great egrets and neotropic cormorants), fish surveys, fixed transect wildlife surveys in the tropical rainforest, fishing bat monitoring, and Amazon frog surveys.

Despite the unfamiliar environment, the five Explorers research team members maintained high spirits throughout, fearlessly facing hardships, enduring mosquito bites and scorching sunlight, while carefully conducting sampling, observation, and documentation of rare flora and fauna, all in an effort to better understand and protect the ecological resources of the Amazon Basin.

Additionally, the team members had many opportunities to communicate and create joyful memories with local indigenous people. Upon their arrival, the Kichwa indigenous villagers welcomed theExplorers research team members from faraway China with their traditional dances. In return, the researchers shared the elegant sounds of the erhu and engaged in heartfelt exchanges with the kind and lovely Kichwa villagers. Furthermore, Fu Boyang, the passionate and public-spirited leader of the Beijing Meilanfang Opera Troupe and a renowned Peking opera performer, also gave a performance of traditional Peking opera martial arts scenes for the villagers as one of the Explorers involved in charity work. This marked the first time Peking opera art was presented in an Amazonian indigenous village. The simple and curious Kichwa people witnessed a Chinese kung fu performance for the first time, leaving them excited, moved, and reluctant to say goodbye.
Explorers: Focusing on Ecological Protection and Creating Eco-Friendly Outdoor Gear
The Amazon Basin is known as the “Kingdom of Life” and the “Lungs of the Earth.” However, due to challenges posed by human economic activities, the ecological environment of the Amazon Basin is deteriorating, and environmental protection issues urgently need attention. As a leading company in China’s outdoor gear industry, Explorers has long been concerned with the protection of the ecological environment of the Amazon Rainforest, the “Lungs of the Earth,” and has consistently supported the “Guardians of the Earth’s Lungs – Amazon Rainforest Ecological Monitoring” field research volunteer project. Prior to this, Explorers had already organized two editions of the “Finding the Explorers Around Us” campaign, selecting participants to conduct field research in the Amazon and contributing China’s efforts to the environmental protection of the Amazon Basin. -(Explorers Focus on Ecological Protection)
During this field expedition, the complex environment of the Amazon not only tested the willpower of the research team members but also put the quality of Trailblazer’s outdoor gear to the test. Environmental protection has always been one of the key focuses in Trailblazer’s product R&D, brand building, and public welfare initiatives. Trailblazer has independently developed an innovative eco-friendly functional technology platform, continuously enhancing the environmental performance of its new products.
