Unveiling the Interior of Osaka’s “Tower of the Sun”: The Rainbow Tree of Life to Open to the Public in 2018

The Tower of the Sun in Osaka Expo Park was built to commemorate the 1970 International Exposition held in Osaka. Nearly half a century later, the Tower, which is usually not open to the public, has recently allowed Japanese media inside. After renovation, it is expected to open to the public in 2018.
The Tower of the Sun recently opened its doors to Japanese media for photography, unveiling the mystery within. Compared to its plain exterior, the interior resembles an extraordinary world. The colorful, towering Tree of Life depicts the evolutionary process from primitive life forms to humans, and with lighting added, it creates a magical atmosphere inside the tower.
Currently, the Tower of the Sun is undergoing seismic reinforcement and restoration work. It is not only scheduled to open to the public in March 2018 but also plans to apply for World Heritage status.
