On October 29, WIT (Web in Travel), the most prestigious online travel conference in the Asia-Pacific region, wrapped up in Singapore. As the 10th edition of the event, this year was especially meaningful. The conference recognized ten of the most influential individuals in the Asia-Pacific online travel industry, with Melissa Yang, Co-founder and CTO of Tujia.com, being honored along with Rob Rosenstein, Co-founder and CEO of Agoda; Fritz Demopoulos, former Co-founder and CEO of Qunar.com; Kathleen Tan, CEO of AirAsiaExpedia; and Adrian Currie, SVP of Priceline, among others.

Upon receiving the award, Melissa Yang said that she was quite shy the first time she was invited to speak at WIT two years ago. "I'm still a bit shy, but I'm improving. At WIT, I met many amazing people and learned a lot from them. For me, it’s very meaningful to be able to share and influence the next generation of female entrepreneurs and engineers in China. The Chinese travel market is huge, and Tujia will focus on delivering the best we can."

The three-day WIT conference gathered industry elites, bringing together leaders from major online travel companies across the Asia-Pacific region. The event focused on and discussed the development and transformation of China’s tourism industry. As a representative of China’s sharing economy, Tujia.com, which offers distinctive accommodation experiences, received keen attention from attendees. During the conference, Melissa shared insights on the development of China’s vacation rental industry and Tujia’s business operations, and discussed entrepreneurial experiences and opportunities in China’s tourism industry with Douglas Khoo, Co-founder of Qunar.com.
