When shopping for bargains during your trip to Japan, an outlet mall is the go-to destination. Located in Chiba PrefectureKisarazu Mitsui Outlet, reputed to be Japan’s largest outlet mall, features around 250 brands. If you’revisiting for the first time but want to shop smart, just follow the three key principles of “Front, Middle, and Back” to quickly find the brands you’re looking for.

The Kisarazu Mitsui Outlet is an L-shaped mall with entrances on the east, west, south, and north sides. Most international visitors enter through the east entrance, which is also where the shuttle bus back to Tokyo departs.

▲ Trendy fashion brands popular with younger shoppers can be found near the east entrance of the Kisarazu Mitsui Outlet.

According to Mitsui Outlet specialist Kobayashi, starting from the east entrance, there are two main routes—left and right. The front section is mostly young fashion and sportswear brands. Heading left, you’ll find stores like Levi's, VANS, LAWRY’S FARM, and SHIPS, while going right brings you to UNITED ARROW LTD., LACOSTE, CECIC McBEE, adidas, Reebok, and BEAMS.

Among the many fashion and sportswear brands, “Tachikichi,” which sells a wide variety of tableware and cookware, is a crowd favorite. Kobayashi says Tachikichi displays many exquisite dining items, ranging from pots to adorable chopstick rests. With reasonable prices, it’s loved by both domestic and international travelers and often bought as a souvenir. For those who care about tableware, it can be a real treasure-hunting spot.

Walking toward the central area of the mall, this section is primarily home to a food court and specialty shops for luxury watches and tableware. The food court features 13 dining brands, including familiar Taiwanese favorites such as Kaneko Hannosuke, Ippudo, and Miyatake Sanuki Udon.

▲ Kitchenware and luxury watch brands are also located here.

In addition, for travelers interested in cookware, tableware, or luxury watches, this area has everything you need. Brands include CITIZEN, SEIKO, the knife specialty store “Kiya,” and Taiwan travelers’ beloved LE CREUSET.

▲ High-end luxury brands are concentrated in the back section.

Premium luxury brands such as COACH, GUCCI, ARMANI, MICHAEL KORS, LONGCHAMP, Vivienne Westwood, TORY BURCH, and JIMMY CHOO are all located in the latter half of the mall. But you’ll also find GAP, EDWIN, TOMMY HILFIGER, and Franc franc here.

Among the many luxury brands, there’s also a lacquerware brand called “Yamada Heiando,” which is the only outlet location in all of Japan. This brand is famous for crafting lacquerware used by the Japanese imperial family. From chopsticks to bowls and decorative items, you can see the artisans’ unique craftsmanship. Prices range from a few hundred yen to several hundred thousand yen, making it a true luxury among lacquerware and a must-visit shop at the Kisarazu Outlet.
