Celebrating 50 Years of Sofitel and 50 Years of China-France Diplomatic Relations

This new commissioned work by the Sofitel brand was created to celebrate its remarkable 50-year legacy and the 50th anniversary of friendly China-France diplomatic relations. The show blends songs, music, and dance with theatrical storytelling and visual effects, vividly narrating a romantic tale between China and France.
Hyland Hotel Presents Sofitel’s Marvelous Journey
The rhythm of the music, the lively yet graceful choreography, coupled with immersive audiovisual effects, captivated the audience as they experienced the collision of two distinct cultures. Starting in the 1950s, the nostalgic performance is infused with vitality, romance, allure, vibrant colors, and a touch of playful humor. Over 45 minutes of rich visuals take the audience on a marvelous journey that combines classic elegance with entertainment. The hotel ballroom was transformed into a theater, and over 170 guests, including the hotel’s partners, distinguished VIPs, and loyal members, were invited to witness this exciting performance live.
Following its performances in Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Shanghai, “The Marvelous Journey” will be successively staged at Sofitel hotels in four more cities — Xi’an, Jinan, Chongqing, and Chengdu — before concluding in Macau on November 25.

Show Synopsis
This “wonderful journey” unfolds against a carefully curated visual backdrop, where skilled singers and dancers present jazz moves and contemporary ballet, accompanied by timeless pop hits and classic tunes, allowingthe audienceto travel through time from the 1960s to the present day, witnessing cultural highlights of both China and France. The performance features award-winning Sino-French female singer and actress Wang Yiqing, as well as the dynamic French young dancer and actor Anthony Esteve-Chuecos , delivering a lighthearted and enchanting show.
The artistic director of this performance is Lisa Souissa, who boasts extensive experience in performing arts, choreography, and management. Lisa has also provided dance direction for numerous major international entertainment companies, including renowned productions by Cirque du Soleil and Long Yan Limited. The technical director is Jason Graham, who has offered technical support for major sporting events and touring shows for many years. He is currently the head of sound at Macau’s “The House of Dancing Water.”
The performers each take on distinctively characterized roles, with four acts beginning in a chic Parisian café of the 1960s, followed by scenes showcasing the beautiful landscapes of China;their next stop is the glamorous French Riviera town of Saint-Tropez, presenting a thrilling and competitive business world;the show concludes with joyful song and dance, celebrating the golden anniversaries of the China-France friendship and the Sofitel brand.
