The Wuxi Hongchiba Scenic Area is a large alpine grassland and highland flower sea scenic zone, primarily centered around the Wuxi National Forest Park. Located on the northwestern edge of Wuxi County, Chongqing, about 80 kilometers northwest of the county town, it is the source of the Daning River in the golden三峡 tourism belt.
Its original name was Wanqing Pond. The scenic area’s Three-Colored Pools consist of three separate pools. Interestingly, although they are not far apart, the water in each pool is naturally different in color — the red pool’s water is like rosy clouds, the green pool’s like indigo, and the black pool’s like ink. The area’s current name, Hongchiba (Red Pond Flatland), comes from the red pool.
Historically a lake and plain, Hongchiba boasts abundant resources and beautiful scenery. The area enjoys unique climatic conditions, spectacular celestial phenomena, and rich cultural attractions, offering multiple functions such as summer retreats, winter sports, and aesthetic enjoyment.
