With the ski season drawing near, hundreds of WSD team members are gearing up for action — signaling that the 9th World Snowboard Day is almost here!! As always, whether you’re new to the sport or a pro, no matter where you are on the globe, WSD welcomes you to join in the celebration of this special day dedicated to snowboarders and to welcome the new season!!
On December 21st, 2014 — which happens to be a Sunday — we’ll all come together to enjoy a fun-filled day and embrace the joy of snowboarding. So get your gear ready, snowboarders, because something epic might just be happening at a resort near you. That day will feature a wide range of activities: snowboard competitions, beginner lessons, equipment testing, new product trial runs, meet-and-greets with pro riders, as well as on-site drinks, live music performances, and movie screenings — in short, it will be an unforgettable and truly exciting experience!! All events are free of charge, so let’s unleash our passion and enjoy the ride on our boards!!
Last year, over 30 countries participated in World Snowboard Day events, with a total of 114 gatherings worldwide. Since its inception eight years ago, World Snowboard Day has grown into an international phenomenon, with more than 100,000 people falling in love with snowboarding through these events — and many continue to take part year after year. After eight successful years, World Snowboard Day has firmly entered the radar of snowboarders, and this day has become the biggest celebration for riders to let loose and share their passion.
What’s new for the 2014 World Snowboard Day?
Highlight #1: This year, our creative team is working on a punk rock theme. We’ve even come up with a mascot — Powdy — who will be the star of this “crazy extravaganza,” along with various themed merchandise. Keep an eye on the WSD World Snowboard Day website at www.world-snowboard-day.com, as events kick off in various locations soon.
Highlight #2: This year, a new pro rider will take over from Xavier de Le Rue as the event ambassador. We’re honored to have legendary snowboarder Régis Rolland joining us. Régis is thrilled to spread his passion for snowboarding through this global celebration!! We hope you’ll be right where you need to be, just like him — on December 21st, we can’t wait to see you there!!
