Let’s take a look at which ski resorts in China are joining this year’s WSD World Snowboarding Day event!
Dolomiti Ski Resort
Chongli County, Zhangjiakou City
Dolomiti Ski Resort is located in Chongli County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, 226 kilometers from Beijing, covering an area of 57 hectares. It features the first 6-person high-speed windproof box-style gondola in a domestic ski resort, allowing families to ride together safely and reach the mountain top in just 5 minutes, reducing gondola waiting time. The resort currently has a total of 8 ski runs for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers, with a total length of over 8 kilometers and a snowmaking area exceeding 300,000 square meters.
New highlights of the ski season
In the 2014/15 ski season, Dolomiti Ski Resort introduced a variety of ski and snow play areas such as a snow park, moguls, wave runs, forest park, and kids’ area, designed and built by the Italian YIBU (One Step) design team, meeting the needs of snowboarders at all levels.
Songhua Lake Ski Resort
Jilin City, Jilin Province
Songhua Lake Ski Resort is located at the northern foot of Daqing Mountain and by the shores of Songhua Lake, with the highest elevation drop of the mountain reaching 605 meters. It once hosted the 6th National Winter Games. The ski season lasts from mid-November to the end of March each year, with an average winter temperature of -9.7°C.
Developed and operated by Prince Hotel Japan Co., Ltd., the resort introduced Austrian Doppelmayr cable cars and Italy’s world-class snow groomers and snowmaking equipment. It offers 34 quality ski runs with a total length of about 31 kilometers and a ski area of 175 hectares.
New highlights of the ski season
－ Features one of the longest alpine ski runs in China, stretching 4.1 kilometers, allowing even beginners to enjoy an extraordinary experience from the mountaintop to the base.
－ Collaborates with the world’s top snowboarding brand BURTON to create China’s first woodsy park, Stash.
－ Has a total of 7 passenger cable cars with a combined length of about 9 kilometers, with a maximum hourly capacity of 17,000 people. The main cable car, provided by Austria’s Doppelmayr, features world-leading fully enclosed cabins and heated seats, offering visitors a comfortable ride up Daqing Mountain while enjoying the surrounding scenery.
Shenyang GuaiPo International Ski Resort
Shenyang City, Liaoning Province
Shenyang GuaiPo International Ski Resort is located within the GuaiPo Scenic Area in the northeastern part of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Built in 2010 and now in its fourth year, it is currently the closest ski resort to downtown Shenyang. Covering a total area of over 500 acres with a snowmaking area of 200,000 square meters, the resort includes 7 ski runs for beginners, intermediates, and advanced levels, and is also the largest ski resort in the Liaoning-Shenyang area by land size.
New highlights of the ski season
－ The ski runs include 2 advanced runs (one featuring a dual-ski park), 2 intermediate runs (one with a freestyle park), and 3 beginner runs, including one for snowboard practice and one for dual-ski practice. The resort can accommodate 1,500–2,000 people simultaneously.
－ The GuaiPo Ski Resort Ice and Snow Park covers an area of 40,000 square meters. The resort expands its snow play offerings every year. In addition to existing attractions like snow tubing, new activities have been added such as Snow Castle, ice slides, ice drift cars, classic sled-style ice carts (offering nostalgic fun), and snow ocean balls, totaling eight new entertainment options.
－ Newly purchased Italian Areco Super Snow God snow guns and German Kässbohrer snow groomers ensure comprehensive, high-quality snow conditions for your comfort.
－ In addition to retaining the original beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs, new moguls and wave runs have been added, along with dedicated practice areas for children.
Xinjiang Silk Road International Ski Resort
Urumqi City, Xinjiang Province
The Silk Road International Ski Resort is located in the Tianshan Mountains, within the Pingsixiliang Scenic Area of Nanshui Xigou Town, Nanshan National Forest Park, 38 kilometers south of Urumqi. With abundant sunshine in winter, crisp air, pure snow quality, and rich ice and snow resources, the average temperature here is around minus 10 degrees Celsius, making it an ideal destination for winter skiing holidays.
The Silk Road International Ski Resort features a 4,300-meter ski slope and sightseeing cable cars, a Finnish wooden chalet hotel at the mountaintop built with European red pine, Xinjiang’s first North American RV hotel, a 6,000-square-meter ecological landscape restaurant, the China Culture Hotel, a snow disc flying park, the global teaching center for Burton LTR snowboards, a snowboard park, an alpine skiing rink meeting international standards, a ski complex hall with European service standards, specialty shops for international brand ski equipment, a powered paragliding member flight experience base, a petrified wood museum, a meteorite exhibition hall, and a populus euphratica forest park, among other tourism and resort supporting facilities. It has been rated as "China’s Best Skiing Tourism Resort." Here, you can enjoy nature in its pristine form and fully embrace the magic and beauty of the great outdoors.
Chengdu Jianfeng Dry Ski Slope
Chengdu High-Tech Zone
Chengdu Jianfeng Dry Ski Slope is China’s first urban open-air all-season ski slope and currently the largest outdoor dry ski slope in Asia. The slope is paved with the world’s most advanced "Jianfeng Dry Ski" carpet. Its establishment provides skiing enthusiasts in Chengdu with a fun, year-round sports venue to enjoy skiing.
The slope offers four runs: beginner, intermediate, advanced, and a snowboard park, along with a large airbag, moguls, boxes, a snowboard wall, wave runs, and various ski obstacle facilities. The beginner practice run is 100 meters long, the intermediate run is 160 meters, and the snowboard park run is 160 meters.
The Chengdu Jianfeng Ski Slope covers a construction area of nearly 40,000 square meters, with a slope area of nearly 10,000 square meters. It is also equipped with two internationally advanced passenger "magic carpets" to allow skiers to fully enjoy the fun of skiing.
Jinshan Ski Resort
Jimo City, Qingdao
Jinshan Ski Resort is located at the border between Qingdao and Yantai, nestled at the foot of the scenic Yuhuang Mountain. The resort covers a total area of 29 hectares and can accommodate 1,500 skiers at the same time.
The resort has two beginner slopes, one intermediate slope, one advanced slope, and one snow disc run. The width and gradient of the slopes all meet international standards.
Snowmobiles, off-road vehicles, and snow discs add even more fun to the snowy experience.
The resort has introduced internationally advanced snowmaking and snow-grooming equipment, along with 1,500 sets of internationally renowned branded skis. It also features a 2,200-square-meter multifunctional club to provide guests with high-quality services.
Qianshan Ski Scenic Area Ski Club
Anshan City, Liaoning Province
The Qianshan Scenic Area Hot Spring Ski Club is located within the famous national Qianshan Scenic Area in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. The ski area covers an area of 100 mu.
The resort uses the world’s most advanced snowmaking machines to combine artificial and natural snow, and has newly purchased world-renowned snow groomers to ensure smooth slopes and soft snow quality, extending the skiing season by 20 days compared to regular resorts.
All the ski boards at the resort are newly imported top-brand premium boards, with the board grade and quality being among the best in the province. The ski suits are also newly introduced world-renowned brands.
The resort employs one national-level coach, along with 20 professional and beginner-level coaches, who provide professional guidance and training for novice skiers.
Winter activities include alpine skiing, snow football, and snow tug-of-war. The area has a self-service restaurant, and the ski equipment building can accommodate 240 people at the same time.
Jiudingta Ski Resort
Jinan City, Shandong Province
Jinan Jiudingta "Dance of Snow" International Ski Resort is located in Liubu Town, Licheng District, Jinan City, 26 kilometers from downtown Jinan, covering an area of over 1,000 mu.
The "Dance of Snow" International Ski Resort consists of beginner, intermediate, and advanced slopes. The total length of the slopes is 1,500 meters, with a vertical drop of 133 meters and a maximum width of 150 meters, capable of accommodating 3,000 skiers simultaneously, making it the foremost ski slope in Shandong. The resort features a double chairlift, two high-speed tow ropes, and two low-speed tow ropes to meet the needs of skiers of different levels.
Given the large number of beginners, the ski resort has established a dedicated ski school, hiring over 20 national high and intermediate coaches from Harbin and Yabuli to help beginners master skiing knowledge and skills in the shortest time and experience the thrill of speeding down the slopes. To cater to skiers’ needs, night skiing sessions are also offered.
