New and veteran anglers in Beijing gathered here to celebrate their own festival in their unique way, sharing the joy of a bountiful year of fishing and happy moments together, as well as their remarkable experiences.
Starting at2p.m., anglers attending the gathering arrived one after another.64Anglers completed membership registration on-site, with the first batch of105members receiving their membership certificates from the Chinese Angling Association (CAA)). Becoming aCAAmember is an honor for every angler.
A total of2015Beijing Anglers’ New Year Gathering233people attended the event, including anglers, guests, media representatives, and corporate delegates. The China Railway Construction lobby was packed with joyful, celebratory energy, and every angler wore a festive smile that was truly indescribable. They enjoyed drinks and conversation with great delight.
The opening remarks by hosts Chen Lei and Wang Wenjuan used the phrase “the benevolent enjoy mountains, the wise enjoy water.” We are the wise — we love the blue sky, the rivers, lakes, and seas, we love life, and we especially love fishing. They described fishing enthusiasts in this way...
2014The year has swiftly passed, and our experiences in the Year of the Horse remain unforgettable for every angler. It brought us hope, joy, and fish — but more importantly, it gave us opportunities for growth. Every joyful moment spent fishing remains vivid in our memories, whether it was the cheerful smiles of all ages at the Beijing “Happy Haiyang Family” parent-child fishing event, or the glory of the Beijing Chinese Celebrity Team winning the “Big Fish Cup” National Sea Fishing Championship in Dalian’s Zhangzi Island, the valiant figures of the Beijing Women’s Sea Fishing Team — where ladies were no less heroic than men — and then the activities organized by Beijing Longtu International, such as fishing trips to Phuket and exploring the Similan Islands to catch big fish. Wherever there were anglers, there were Beijing anglers. These moments will forever remain in our minds, becoming the most beautiful memories of our lives and topics of conversation for years to come.2014At the gathering, first, Ji Jingjian, Executive Deputy Director of the Sea Fishing Committee of the Chinese Angling Association and Director of the Beijing Member Service Center, delivered a New Year’s greeting. Director Ji extended New Year wishes and regards to all the guests, friends, anglers, and their families present, and explained the development philosophy, service purpose, and activity plans for the new year of the Beijing Member Service Center.
With the arrival of theCAAyear, history will turn a new page. The establishment of the Beijing Member Service Center of the Chinese Angling Association (abbreviated asCAA) is not only a new milestone in the history of fishing sports, but also a new starting point. From this moment on, we shoulder the expectations and future of anglers.
The founding purpose of the Beijing Member Service Center is “to serve the broad community of anglers and our members.” Members are the fundamental cells of an association; they are the basic components for the growth of its structure and vitality. Under past systems,2015many associations struggled to effectively recruit members or organize member activities. These idle associations could neither meet the needs of their members nor effectively mobilize social resources to support this meaningful mass activity. Since the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, social organization management has entered a new phase, emphasizingCAAa pluralistic association model within a single industry.

These inactive associations failed to meet the needs of the broad membership and fishing enthusiasts, nor could they effectively mobilize social resources to support this meaningful mass activity. Since the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, association management has entered a new phase, emphasizing“one industry, multiple associations”emphasizing the enhancement of internal governance structure.
In fact, the development of members has made the association's grassroots network more widespread, strengthened the connection between the association and fishing enthusiasts, and facilitated better integration of social resources. This is an internet era, an age saturated with internet thinking.
Today, the Beijing Member Service Center is still a sapling. It must endure wind and rain, withstand tests, face market challenges, and undergo member evaluations. But no matter what, the sprouting of this sapling signals that the chill of winter is fading and spring has arrived.
Unlike previous years, this year our membership has welcomed a large number of freshwater fishing enthusiasts, which also brings us new challenges and tests. How to provide more detailed and comprehensive services to both our new and existing members will be our2015goal for the year.
CAAThe Beijing Member Center has planned a “2015Fishing Tour of China” large-scale touring event, scheduled to travel from Wuzhizhou Island in Sanya, Hainan, to Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, and Dalian’s Zhangzidao Island. The plan is to go from south to north, inviting local clubs to organize fishing tour leisure events in various formats such as recreational friendly matches, challenge matches, league competitions, and family-friendly fishing trips where anglers bring their families and children to fish across China.
At the New Year gathering,CAAJiao Yuzhong, Deputy Director of the Beijing Member Service Center, delivered a speech, expressing gratitude to Beijing fishing enthusiasts and sponsoring manufacturers for their support of the center’s activities and their longstanding backing of Linghai Fishing Tackle over the years. He pledged to shoulder the center’s responsibilities, provide better services to fishing enthusiasts, and offer products at member prices with guaranteed quality.
Surprisingly, long-time friends who traveled from afar also attended, including Mr. Sun Yingshi, President of Dalian Zhangzidao Group, and his team, who joined guests, media, and fellow fishing enthusiasts for a festive celebration. He generously promised to provide our members with the most favorable prices and highest-quality services.
A new highlight of this year’s gathering was Beijing angler Xiao Haixing, who2014donated the second-place prize money of1000yuan he won at the “Joyful Haiyang: One Big Family” event to the Beijing Member Service Center to be used for membership management fees. Truly, heroes come from the young—his actions show us the future and hope of the fishing community.
The host,CAAChen Lei, Secretary-General of the Beijing Member Service Center, launched the “2015Big Fish Challenge” at the annual meeting."AllCAABeijing members are eligible to sign up for the competition. From2015year,1month,25day to2016year,1month,1day, anyone who catches a big fish within Chinese waters—with at least two witnesses and photographic evidence—can report the location, bait used, tackle, species caught, fishing method, time of catch, etc., and submit an entry toCAAthe Beijing Member Center Secretariat for registration and judging. Specific rules are available in the activity guidelines. Members are encouraged to participate actively, with great prizes on offer.
Two fish printing artworks by Master Xu Zheng, a designated fish printing artist of the Chinese Angling Sports Association, were highly sought after by fishing enthusiasts. One meaningful mackerel print was the single largest fish caught by the Chinese Celebrity Team led by Chen Lei at the2013National Wanning Trolling Tournament, along with another yellowtail amberjack print. These were auctioned among fishing enthusiasts, with proceeds going toward environmental protection and fish release initiatives in future events. This small contribution from us Beijing anglers is our way of supporting environmental conservation and nature appreciation. We thank Master Xu Zheng for his generous donation.
Of course, the lucky draw remains a highlight every year, and this year’s prizes were diverse and abundant, with a winning rate of over80%. Most anglers and guests went home with prizes they were happy with. All attendees of the New Year gathering received a gift: an outdoor neck gaiter and a handheld fishing line set courtesy of Beijing Linghai Fishing Tackle, as well as a copy of the2014year “Blue Temptation” DVD, valued at88A travel voucher worth ¥1 is enclosed.
