Summer is all about ice cream (or shaved ice)! When it comes to the giants of the ice world, many people think of the enormous basin-sized shaved ice at Sea Ice in West Bay. But in Taichung, there’s an ice shop—Dingxiang Tofu Pudding—that not only sells regular shaved ice but also lets customers bring their own basins (or pots) of any size to enjoy their treat. As long as you can finish it, the owner will serve it. However, those wanting a basin-sized serving should remember to bring their own container.

A group of three from Youtuber “Laopo” recently took on the challenge with their newly purchased stainless steel basin. When they pulled out the basin, they said, “We’re here to take on this,” and the owner instantly understood, replying, “OKOK.” After asking how many people would be sharing, the owner began scooping ice from buckets into the basin. When the netizens expressed dissatisfaction with the portion size, she quickly asked her father-in-law, who was making more ice in the back, to bring over an extra basin and pour it in. As for toppings, the owner didn’t hold back—adding generous scoops of whatever they wanted. When asked if being so generous would hurt profits, the owner said not at all—“As long as we sell, we make money!”

Regarding pricing, the owner charges based on the size of the basin. In the video, the portion shown cost 200 NT dollars. Also, if you buy a new basin, the owner will wash it with boiled water for you, and you can wash it clean and take it home after eating—the owner is super nice.
