A creative meetings platform and mobile meeting service app highlight Marriott’s leadership in concept and technology innovation
Beijing, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Marriott International will collaborate with the China (Shanghai) International Travel Mart for Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions (IT&CM China)to jointly present this year’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) extravaganza. The China (Shanghai) International Travel Mart for Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions is China’s premier MICE business, education and networking platform, and the 2015 edition will be held from April 14 to 16.
Spanning three days, the China (Shanghai) International Travel Mart for Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions will take place at the Shanghai Mart. With the theme “Bringing China to the World, Bringing the World to China,” the event will gather 700 domestic and international MICE exhibitors, conference organizers and corporate buyers in China’s booming market to participate in MICE exhibitions, seminars, well-organized business meetings, social galas and tours.
On April 14, 2015, Marriott International will hold an official opening ceremony at the Marriott Hotel Pudong Shanghai. The company will also showcase MICE services offered at 25 of its hotels in China to attendees at the main exhibition venue (hotel names are listed in the appendix). In addition, the Marriott Hotel Pudong Shanghai and the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai at Tomorrow Square will host social cocktail receptions for outstanding MICE organizers.
In addition to showcasing the latest meeting products and facilities at some of China’s top MICE venues, Marriott International will also launch a new meetings concept -- — the Meetings Imagined creative meetings platform (www.meetingsimagined.com ). Through this platform, meeting planners can tailor their events with purpose. Marriott International’s research found that meetings are typically held for one of seven purposes:Celebration, Decision, Education, Incubation, Networking, Inspiration and Promotion. Designed around these meeting objectives, the Meetings Imagined platform aims to help make meetings more visual, social and purposeful.
“As organizers plan their meetings, Marriott International has always been attentive to their collaboration needs with our hotels, and we aim to deliver differentiated services that meet more specific demands. The Meetings Imagined platform, which is driven by purpose, also makes the entire planning process more visual, social and meaningful. This new concept will lead meeting trends, create unique experiences and help planners design and execute meetings in innovative ways,” said Mr. Eugene Wu, Vice President of Marketing, Greater China, Marriott International.
The Meetings Imagined platform offers a wealth of inspirational imagery, changing the way event planning professionals approach meetings in the future; it also enables consumers and associates to create and share ideas through social media and email, making collaboration a reality.
At this expo, the creative meetings platform will be showcased through seminars and more intimate small-group “campfire” sessions, with the theme: “Inspiring Attendees, Marriott Style: Planning Purposeful, High-Impact Meetings in Extraordinary Ways.”
Marriott International also introduces an innovative mobile meeting service app (Meeting Services App)for MICE planners and organizers across Asia, enabling them to make requests, receive responses and stay connected in real time.
“Marriott is one of the hotel groups with the largest MICE venue inventory in China. In this rapidly growing MICE market, the launch of the Meetings Imagined platform and mobile meeting service app underscores Marriott’s leadership as a pioneer in concepts and technology innovation. In addition to the website, meeting planners can also work with Meetings Imagined experts across the Asia Pacific region to develop meeting events,” added Mr. Eugene Wu.
Marriott International operates 76 hotels in China, spanning six brands including The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels, Renaissance Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments, with the portfolio continuing to expand.
In Shanghai alone, Marriott operates 21 hotels, making it the international hotel group with the most 4- and 5-star hotels in the city, holding a 39% share of the room capacity market.
Marriott’s footprint is gradually expanding from major metropolitan areas to China’s rapidly emerging second- and third-tier cities. By the end of 2019, Marriott International’s number of hotels in China is expected to more than double, increasing from the current 76 to over 160.
