The State Council issued a notice yesterday stating that September 3 will be the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and the nation will have a one-day holiday. The Victory Day in the War of Resistance was officially established by national legislation in 2014, and the public holiday on this day reflects the Chinese government's high regard for this special occasion. For the travel market, the adjustment of work and rest days from the 3rd to the 5th creates a three-day short holiday, which will also provide people with more travel time and significantly boost the heat in the tourism market.

The short holiday for Victory Day is less than a month away from the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day Golden Week, which will shift the peak tourism period forward by nearly a month. The early arrival of the tourism boom also poses a challenge for tourism businesses. It is understood that well-known domestic travel companies such as Tujia have actively responded to the latest holiday notice and have begun preparing for the earlier arrival of the tourism golden period.

According to past experience, the arrival of a tourism golden period will inevitably place high demands on the reception capacity of tourist attractions. This not only requires sufficient housing supply to accommodate large numbers of tourists but also diverse types of accommodations to meet the increasingly varied needs of travelers. The traditional hotel industry previously lacked the ability to fully prepare for the tourism peak. However, unlike before, the diversification of accommodation options today has effectively addressed this issue, with popular vacation apartments being among the standout stars. As a representative of China’s vacation apartment industry, Tujia already offers a wide variety of accommodations including yachts, log cabins, RVs, and villas, and many travelers have already begun to eagerly try out these unique lodging options. At the same time, Tujia currently covers 189 destinations across China with nearly 170,000 online listings, greatly making up for the numerical shortfall of the traditional hotel industry.

According to a Tujia spokesperson, to allow more travelers to enjoy this emerging form of accommodation—vacation apartments—Tujia is currently actively preparing for a summer promotion to enable guests to stay at Tujia at lower prices. Before Victory Day in the War of Resistance, Tujia is expected to offer even greater discounts and more listings to share with travelers. The spokesperson added, “Tujia will definitely gear up for this new short holiday. On September’s Victory Day in the War of Resistance, travelers can stay at Tujia with their family and friends in peace and comfort, enjoying a relaxing and cozy short break.”
