In 1976, the Banff Mountain Film Festival was born in the beautiful Banff Mountain Culture Centre in Canada, initiated by several mountaineering, exploration, and extreme sports enthusiasts. They never imagined that their spontaneous idea would turn this small cultural gathering for enthusiasts into an event that has lasted for 36 years. It has since become the most iconic cultural label of Banff National Park, with many people even learning about this beautiful adventure and travel destination through the film festival.
