"We've reached the summit!" Facing the howling mountain winds at the peak, the young Brave the Uncharted team members cheered excitedly. At 8:25 AM on May 27, 2015, Yuan Zhenqin, a member of the "Snow Beer Brave the Uncharted" university students’ unclimbed peak challenge team, was the first to reach the summit of the main peak of the 5,119-meter-high unclimbed peak. Soon after, other team members arrived one after another, and eventually all 23 brave climbers successfully summited the peak.
In the early hours of the 27th at 4 AM, the young Brave the Uncharted team members began packing their gear, fastening their safety harnesses, putting on their helmets, and setting off toward the unclimbed peak.
After more than two months of selection, 23 university student warriors gathered in Shangri-La full of fighting spirit. From being total strangers to sharing hardships, from encouraging one another to successfully reaching the summit, the seven days of challenge forged deep friendships among the Brave the Uncharted team members. Despite many difficulties encountered along the way, they ultimately overcame them all and conquered themselves.
During the training to cross the mountain pass, one female student’s trekking pole broke and became unusable. Although the pass was very steep, her teammate still lent her their trekking pole. During the hike, some team members became physically exhausted and were gradually overtaken by others, but whenever that happened, they would hear words of encouragement from their teammates, and that support became the motivation that kept them going.
This university students’ unclimbed peak challenge was an unforgettable youth experience for all the team members. Each difficult and strenuous step forward through perilous moments, the unwavering belief in the face of countless challenges, and every experience of pushing beyond self-imposed limits — all of these were, in themselves, a personal “unclimbed peak” challenge in their lives. It is believed that the Brave the Uncharted spirit will also serve as a source of strength in their future studies and life.
The overall team leader, who has been in charge of the Snow Beer Brave the Uncharted activity for eight consecutive years, said: "Youth knows no fear. The university student warriors have created this miracle — the arrival of a brand-new era!"
