Renowned Chinese painters Yin Zhaoyang, Yin Zhaohui, Yin Zhaoyu, and Li Ying have created four emotionally evocative artworks
which were recently exhibited in the historical display of the Duckling
HONG KONG, June 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Duckling, an iconic symbol of Hong Kong that sank last year, will set sail again on June 13. Since the story of the Duckling was widely reported by the media, it has garnered significant public attention and sparked widespread interest in cultural heritage preservation. The East Station Gallery, which is dedicated to promoting contemporary art and culture, was moved by the Duckling’s story and decided to contribute. The gallery facilitated an initiative by inviting four renowned mainland Chinese painters to create artworks for the Duckling.EarlierIn collaboration with the “Gao Yifen Charity Project,” the artworks added vibrancy to the “Duckling Historical Exhibition” held at Times Square in Causeway Bay from April 21 to May 11.
The Artistic Legacy Reimagines the Duckling Through Paintings
The four invited painters—Yin Zhaoyang, Yin Zhaohui, Yin Zhaoyu, and Li Ying—come from the same artistic family and are highly skilled in oil painting. Over the years, they have held multiple exhibitions in Hong Kong, forming a deep bond with the city. Having personally witnessed the grandeur of the Duckling, they share a unique emotional connection with it. The Yin family shared: “It would be such a pity if the Duckling were lost forever. Thankfully, it was saved by caring individuals. We wanted to do our small part to encourage more Hong Kong people to support cultural preservation.” They created four distinctive artworks themed around the Duckling, each reflecting their personal style and feelings, and presented them to the Duckling as a keepsake.
The East Station Gallery hopes to combine art with history, using the painters’ masterpieces to embody the indomitable spirit of the people of Hong Kong, while also conveying a message about preserving cultural heritage.
