――The “Together (Divine) Land, Shared (Jeju) Spirit, Love Gathers in Jeju” campaign is about to launch
On the afternoon of July 24, a Chinese media promotion event for Jeju Island’s tourism resources was grandly held in Beijing. Governor Won Hee-ryong of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province led a Jeju government delegation to enthusiastically introduce Jeju Island’s tourism resources to journalists from key domestic media outlets, while also announcing a series of favorable measures for Chinese tourists to be launched in the second half of the year.
Dozens of central-level key news media organizations attended the promotion event, including Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, People's Daily Online, Phoenix Online, CNR Online, China Youth Online, China Daily, and Beijing Television.

It is reported that to promote Jeju tourism, Governor Won Hee-ryong personally led a 15-member team comprising members of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Government and the Jeju Tourism Organization (Tourism Bureau) to Beijing yesterday, commencing a three-day promotional tour for Jeju tourism. The goal of this promotional tour is to boost the development of Jeju’s tourism economy, help the region recover as quickly as possible from the negative impact of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome on Korean tourism, and ultimately make a due contribution to cultural and tourism exchanges between China and South Korea.
About Governor Won Hee-ryong (WON HEE-RYONG)
Born on February 14, 1964, in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, he holds a Bachelor of Public Law from Seoul National University and a graduate degree from the Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Hanyang University. With a background as a prosecutor and lawyer, he later entered politics. He served as a member of the National Assembly for the 16th, 17th, and 18th terms from South Korea’s ruling party, the Saenuri Party (now the Liberty Korea Party), and once chaired the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee. In July 2011, he was elected as a Supreme Council Member of the Grand National Party, and in July 2014, he was elected as the 37th Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Governor Won previously served as a director of the Korea-China Forum within the National Assembly, studied at Peking University, and is recognized as a China expert in Korean politics. He has always placed great importance on the development of China–South Korea relations and the friendship between the two countries.
