――The Second Season of the 2015 “Fall in Love with Yichang” National Branded Cars Self-Drive Tour Cools Down
With the arrival of the individual travel era, self-drive tours that emphasize experience, freedom, and personal style are winning increasing favor among travelers. Nowadays, the most popular way to travel is to gather friends and hit the road in your own car for a spontaneous drive through lush mountains and clear waters. From August 1st to 2nd, the Yichang Tourism Bureau joined forces with the Three Gorges Dam Tourist Area and the Chaotianya Drifting site—two major scenic spots—and partnered with two automobile clubs, the Hubei CS75 Official Car Club and the Wuhan Dachu Hanshi 3008 Car Club. Together, they created an outdoor carnival in Yichang under the theme of “Scenic Drive Festival,” kicking off the summer trend of water-based camping and self-drive travel.
Yichang boasts majestic mountains, long rivers, and numerous valleys, integrating specialized tourism features such as original canyon exploration, rafting, and outdoor adventure. With its alternating ranges of towering peaks and cascading streams and waterfalls, the scenery is picturesque and distinctive. Especially cool in summer, it is widely recognized by self-drive enthusiasts from nearby regions as a top summer retreat, where “self-drivers” are a common sight. In response, Yichang has continuously developed self-drive tour routes and accelerated the construction of supporting facilities such as self-drive campsites, actively building Yichang’s brand as a self-drive tourism destination. In the first half of 2015, the city launched over 10 premium self-drive tour routes, including the Poetic Three Gorges Tour and the Tujia Ethnic Culture Tour, attracting self-drive enthusiasts from all over the country. Yichang’s new image as a “paradise for outdoor adventures and self-driving journeys” is taking shape.
