According to Xinhua News Agency, from September 10 to 12, Yu Zhengsheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, and head of the Central Delegation, led the delegation to Tibet to attend the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Members of the delegation visited Nyingchi to inspect the construction site of the Nolmo International Tourism Town, a key project aided by Guangdong Province. Upon seeing that a distinctive town integrating natural ecology with modern livability is about to be completed, Du Qinglin, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, said cheerfully that the region’s excellent ecological environment is a “trump card” for Nyingchi’s development. He emphasized that Nyingchi should stick to a path of sustainable development featuring ethnic, cultural, and regional characteristics, and highly commended the project, stating that it will surely become a “monument of the Tibet aid program.”
Designed by Professor Chen Keshi from Peking University and his team, chief designers of China Urban Planning & Design Institute (CUPE), the Nolmo International Tourism Town is located at the confluence of the Yarlung River and the Nolmo River. It covers a total area of 205,503.2 m², with an overall plot ratio of 0.3, and spans a planned area of 2085 mu. The town includes various types of buildings.
