The last “Seasonal Table Festival Market” of the year: Savor Taitung flavors with seasonal ingredients

The 2016 Taitung Seasonal Table Festival will hold its final market on November 26 at the Tiehua New Village. Over 35 local vendors and eco-friendly small farmers will be invited to share exclusive handmade dishes and their stories. Friends from Korea will also introduce Korean slow food and culinary culture, allowing visitors to enjoy the authentic tastes of Taitung in season.

Winter in Taitung is the perfect time to enjoy white marlin, as well as vegetables and fruits such as roselle, radish, and navel oranges. The Seasonal Table Festival, held once per season, features exclusive dishes prepared by vendors using seasonal ingredients, allowing travelers to experience the rich flavors of local, in-season produce. Through this, visitors can also learn about the production journey, stories, and culinary cultures of local farmers and vendors.

This winter market of the Seasonal Table Festival, titled “Winter Feast: The Fisherman’s Table,” draws inspiration from the dietary culture of the Amis people along Taitung’s coast. At 3:30 PM on the 26th, a slow food lecture on pickling culture will be held, sharing how different ethnic groups pickle ingredients to enhance flavors through aging. Visitors can also try the dishes on-site.

In addition, to reduce waste, the Seasonal Table Festival not only encourages vendors to avoid single-use containers but also provides a “tableware rental” service. Travelers who bring their own eco-friendly utensils—complete with bowls, chopsticks, and cups—can receive limited-time discount vouchers at the information desk. When visiting the Seasonal Table Festival, don’t forget to stop by the information desk to pick up the “Foodie Passport.” Along with vendor introductions, visitors can collect stamps by making purchases with the passport. Collect 8 stamps to redeem exclusive gifts prepared by vendors and farmers.
