The name of this place, San Lu Wu Ba, is really fun. When I first saw these four characters, I thought they might be a typo. But there’s actually a clever meaning behind it—the name relates to the location. San Lu Wu Ba is situated at the intersection of Sanchong, Wugu, Luzhou, Xinzhuang, and Bali. Hence the name “San Lu Wu Ba”! Haha, makes it super easy to remember. But if you want an easier reference point, the restaurant is located right at the boundary between Wugu and Luzhou, near Xuhui High School Station on the Zhonghe-Xinlu Line.
I thought it would just be a casual izakaya for post-work chats and relaxation, but the food turned out to be surprisingly delicious. The menu combines grilled dishes and stir-fried specialties—truly diverse. Especially impressive was the overnight-dried mid-size mackerel prepared by the chef; it was absolutely fantastic. It’s perfect for hanging out with close friends, relaxing over drinks and good conversation.

This area is also the boundary between a residential zone and an industrial zone, but it’s actually quite lively nearby. Originally, this spot was a shrimp fishing pond, which was later transformed into a restaurant. The signage is very visible at night.

The interior decoration is simple, dominated by a calm black color scheme. Since black is the base tone, the white letters spelling “San Lu Wu Ba” stand out vividly under the lighting.

There’s a fridge full of beer and regular drinks nearby.

The restaurant is located under an elevated highway, next to a small stream.

Right across from the restaurant is a 7-11, with the residential area on the other side of the stream.

The shop also displays lots of fresh seafood.

Let’s take a look at the menu first. For a beer house, the prices are really reasonable. The grill section includes meats, vegetables, fried items, and freshly caught seafood. On the stir-fry side, there are plenty of dishes—you can eat heartily or go light. It’s great for gatherings with friends. Ordering more variety lets you try different dishes.

This time, I went for a meal and chat with a few friends. Let’s see what we ordered.

Stone Pot Bibimbap – 160
This bibimbap has a colorful mix of ingredients that looks very appealing. Though the flavor has been adjusted, it suits Taiwanese tastes better—with a slight spiciness that also whets the appetite. Mixing all the ingredients together brings out a rich and delicious egg aroma. Absolutely yummy. Everyone took spoonful after spoonful until the pot was scraped clean.

Miso Pork Intestines – 90 (2 skewers)
This one was surprisingly delightful in texture—crispy on the outside, tender inside. Unlike the usual soft version, plus the miso seasoning gives it a savory saltiness that makes you keep eating one after another.

Soy-Braised Chicken Anus – 40 (1 skewer)
Hehe, I don’t dare eat chicken anus!!! But my friend said it was really good—super tender texture and the sauce was well-seasoned.

Garlic Creamy Egg – 110
Hehe, this was my first time trying a creamy egg dish with garlic. The creamy part was smooth and easy to eat, but adding garlic made the flavors go so well together!! It added a lot of aroma, and the sauce became richer, making it great with rice.

Crispy Red Yeast Pork – 180
This dish is perfect for drinking. Red yeast pork isn’t something you see often—I remember it usually goes with congee and side dishes XD. The chef fried it until it was super crispy. It doesn’t have that usual soft meat texture, but the more you chew, the more flavorful it gets. This preparation is really ideal as a drinking snack!!! Paired with a cold beer, it’s absolutely top-notch.

Salt-Grilled Large Shrimp – 80
A friend had this one. He said it was grilled really well, keeping the shrimp’s freshness without burning the outside. Hehe, after all, this is a professional BBQ place, not some random home grilling.

San Lu Grilled Pancake – 160
Hehe, this is the kind of dish you’d usually only find in certain international restaurants!! Who would’ve thought you’d see it in a beer house like this!!! The outside is a thin, crispy pancake, but inside is kimchi pork, topped with stretchy, rich cheese. Dip it in salsa—it’s really good.

Remember to eat it while it’s hot. But honestly, even when it cools down, it’s still pretty tasty. We were eating while the food gradually got cold, but this one stayed good even cooled.

Cheese Mentaiko Potato 130
This is one of the common dishes you’ll find in izakayas. If there were a ranking, this would definitely make the list, because the salty mentaiko sauce pairs perfectly with the fresh potatoes. It’s a great match—if you’ve ordered too much meat, be sure to get this dish.

One-night-dried Japanese Jack Mackerel 260
Hehe, this one-night-dried dish won unanimous praise from everyone today. The skin is crispy and fragrant, but the fish inside is tender and flavorful. It’s delicious even on its own. The secret? The jack mackerel is super fresh, and the grilling is top-notch—the two complement each other perfectly. Eat it plain or with salt and pepper to really bring out the sweet, fresh flavor of the fish.

San Miguel Draft Beer 100 (per cup)

Stir-fried Lamb 130
This stir-fried lamb is cooked with water spinach. The lamb is tender and has almost no gamy taste—it’s quite delicious. A bowl of plain rice goes perfectly with it.

Shrimp Salad 150
This cold shrimp salad is made with a Thai-style sweet and sour sauce. Paired with grass shrimp, it’s refreshing yet full of flavor—also a great summer dish.

Flying Fish Roe Sausage 150
Hehe, when it comes to drinking snacks, how can you miss sausages? But this is flying fish roe sausage—you can actually taste the flying fish roe!! The texture is quite unique.

Grilled Corn Shoots 100 (4 pieces)
These corn shoots are a must-order at every barbecue place!!! Grilled corn shoots are sweet and tasty. Some places serve them with mayonnaise, but here they provide salt and pepper. But usually, we eat them plain—we rarely use the condiments provided. The natural sweetness is the best.

Cheese Mentaiko Chicken Thigh 160
Mentaiko really goes well with many ingredients. This dish combines chicken with mentaiko, adds cheese on top, and then grills it a little—making it a delicious grilled treat.

Look at that!! The stringy cheese is so tempting. The chicken thigh is tender yet slightly chewy, with cheesy and mentaiko flavors~~~ As a pub dish, it’s also very classic.

Drinking and chatting—how short life is!! Coming here is all about having a few drinks, relaxing after a stressful day at work, and chatting with friends!! That’s what life’s all about.
