Last updated 2026-09-24 — MicrosoftInternetExplorer402DocumentNotSpecified7.8ptNormal0 This is a run that returns to the soul and is exhilaratingly liberating. If you haven’t shouted out loud in a long time, then come on over. On October 24, 2015, the first Suzhou Mountain Cross-Country Marathon will kick off at the Suzhou Radio & Television City...
From October 24 to 25, the Red Bull 2015 Parkour Championships will hold its two-day annual finals in the ancient city of Pingyao, Shanxi. The 18 wind-chasing youths selected from five qualifying stops—Beijing, Xinjiang, Guiyang, Xi’an, and Shanghai—will face off in the ultimate “mobile art” showdown here.
The finals will be divided into two segments. On October 24, there will be the Best Trick individual challenge and the team finals, while October 25 will feature the individual skills showdown. The Best Trick single challenge involves 10 athletes taking turns performing individual moves within a designated area and time limit (10 minutes), with the judging panel selecting the best overall performer. The team competition divides the 18 athletes into six groups of three based on their qualifying zones and “wildcard” groupings. Within a set time, they will produce and edit a 3-minute parkour creative video, with the winning team ultimately chosen by the judges. The individual skills showdown consists of four rounds: seeding, elimination (two rounds), and finals. It primarily evaluates the athletes’ move quality, fluidity, creativity, and difficulty, with the champion ultimately crowned.
It’s truly hard to predict who will take home the championship trophy. The athletes who have fought their way through the qualifiers have all showcased their signature moves—for example, Sun Qi from Beijing with his “belly bounce aerial side,” Xie Guangsong from Guiyang with his “4-meter cloud drop high,” He Yiyu from Xi’an with his “4-meter boost backflip,” and Ruan Jianyuan from Shanghai with his “board support shuffle backflip.” After competing, exchanging ideas, and training together—especially with the recent period of reflection and practice—how much will they improve? Faced with the sprawling ancient city walls, the deep alleys paved with bluestone, and the profound historical ambiance of this ancient city, how will their energy be ignited and released? What kind of guidance and insights will they gain in front of domestic and international parkour legends and idols? All of these elements make the outcome of the annual finals highly unpredictable.
The 2015 finals have brought in judges from each qualifier to officiate at the championship, lending their support to China’s top-tier parkour event and its athletes. Renowned domestic parkour experts such as Sun Jie, Australia’s “front flip king” Dominic, France’s “Assassin’s Creed” live-action star Simon, Russia’s “death challenger” Oleg, and Ukraine’s “double rotation guy” Erik will all make appearances. Their presence will also bring thrilling and exciting highlights to the competition.
Parkour is a globally popular and youth-centric urban sport that has become a favored lifestyle since entering China in 2006. Flips, dodges, jumps, and bursts of power—the mobile art of parkour is not just about simple flips or brute force, but rather using the body to defy gravity. Young athletes rely on physical prowess to swiftly and skillfully navigate any environmental obstacles, exploring the limits of their bodies and pushing the boundaries of their spirits. Every traceur is a master of surfing through space and time, delivering a breathtaking visual spectacle for audiences.
The Red Bull Parkour Championships have been held for three years now. By building more and more high-level, professional, and spectacular competitive platforms, the event has nurtured professional star athletes and become a core competition driving the development of new trend sports and extreme sports in China.
