When promoting functional T-shirt products, merchants often use various terms such as moisture-wicking and quick-drying, moisture absorption and sweat release, single-direction moisture conduction, quick-drying and comfort, quick-drying and breathability, etc., to attract consumers' attention. But what are the actual performance indicators used to assess sportswear functional T-shirts, what do these indicators mean, and how are different indicators balanced in outdoor sports? Today, let’s take you deep into the national standards to understand these terms and decode the endless stream of new buzzwords from merchants ------- After intense physical activity, what wearers truly need from a product are the three key attributes: moisture absorption, quick drying, and sweat wicking. These enable perspiration to be drawn away from the skin to the outside of the clothing through the fabric’s “moisture absorption – conduction – diffusion & evaporation” process, resulting in a dry and comfortable state between the body and the garment. In the GB/T 21655.1 testing standard, the moisture absorption performance of fabrics is represented by three metrics: water absorption percentage, water droplet spread time, and wicking height. The quick-drying performance is indicated by the moisture evaporation rate and moisture permeability of the fabric under standard atmospheric conditions.
