Moreover, the weather in the northeast was quite cooperative —-18a-30degree temperature difference provided an ideal environment for me to better showcase the performance of thesesoftshell pants.First, here’s an overall look.

Thoughtful details in the design.,In addition to the ergonomically designed pockets on both sides, the most important feature is the small inner pocket inside the right-side pocket.,For female outdoor enthusiasts, before starting an activity, they can store/valuable small items such as earrings and rings. It’s a thoughtful design — during this trip to the northeast, one girl actually lost an earring while skiing. If she had had pants with such storage, wouldn’t that have reduced her loss?

The sides feature specially designed breathable zippers for sweat management during exercise. When sweating heavily, you can unzip them for ventilation and effectively wick away moisture.

The ergonomic design of the pants, using three-dimensional tailoring throughout, achieves a slim-fit silhouette that maximizes comfort during movement without sacrificing style.

The fabric usesVAUDEa uniqueWINDPROOF PROproprietary fabric, paired with comfortable plain fleece for windproof and warmth retention. Personally, I found it comfortable to wear in temperatures from24degrees to-30degrees. In higher temperatures, it can be worn alone, and in lower temperatures, adding fleece or thermal leggings underneath works well. If it gets even colder, adding another layer inside might look a bit bulky.

The color-block design gives the pants a dynamic and fashionable feel, and the stitching throughout is fine and precise, showcasing a high-end brand aesthetic.

The zippers and buttons on the pantsYYKare exquisitely made, and the ventilation zipper placket features a folded edge,— this design allows rainwater to slide down along the folded edge instead of seeping into the zipper.

I specifically conducted a waterproof test on the pants because I was going to be playing in the snow, so waterproofing was crucial. When I poured water on the pants, it beaded up like droplets on a lotus leaf, forming round beads without soaking in. After half an hour, I picked up the pants and shook off the water, as shown in the photo below.

The test confirmed excellent water repellency, providing temporary protection against rain and snow without any issues.

Breathability test: I placed a cup of hot water inside the pants, and within ten seconds, my glasses were completely fogged up, demonstrating the pants’ outstanding breathability.
    In the past when I went north, others wore thick-lined shoes while I wore non-lined hiking boots. My feet weren’t cold, but theirs were numb — I could never figure out why. Later I gradually realized that the human body emits moisture, and when active, pores subtly release moisture vapor. If this moisture doesn’t evaporate in time, it lingers in clothes and shoes. Once you stop moving, the cold air gets in, and you feel extremely cold. Many people think breathable gear isn’t warm, but in fact, it’s the opposite: timely moisture wicking keeps you dry, and staying dry is key to staying warm. Layer up according to the weather.

The fabric is stiff yet holds its shape — no wrinkles no matter how you fold or store it. It’s durable, abrasion-resistant, and has good elasticity for free movement.

The pants also perform well in tear resistance. I fell while skiingNand there was no sign of tearing — the quality is solid, and it looks like they’ll last forNyears.

Compared to hard-shell ski pants, soft-shell garments offer better performance in breathability and warmth retention. The word “soft” in“soft”shell also hints at one of its key characteristics: comfort. If it accidentally gets dirty, just wipe it with a towel dampened with soapy water.

The three-dimensional cut allows for ease of movement, suitable for both activity and stillness. Even sitting in the snow for over ten minutes, the pants remained dry.
