On the second day of the official opening of this international exhibition for mountain and winter sports equipment, Thursday, February 25, as in previous years, the Asia-Pacific Snow Industry Forum will also be held concurrently.
Since its first edition in 2009, APSC has seen an increasing number of participants and growing popularity. By addressing issues and seeking solutions related to winter sports, tourism, and China’s infrastructure development—among other hot topics—the conference has become not only fully open to all professional operators but also an important forum that offers unique insights and effective
development solutions in this international field.
The forum held in February 2016 will delve into the development plans for ski resorts and their year-round activity programming. It will also explore effective strategies to further promote the winter sports market and provide more services for youth and female enthusiasts in China’s winter sports industry. During the event, professionals from both domestic and international industries will deliver a series of specialized presentations on the theme, offering a range of the best, most inspiring, and effective solutions tailored to the specific needs of professional clients.
The morning session will focus on the development path of China’s winter sports industry leading up to the 2022 Winter Olympics. Speakers from Canada, Switzerland, and France will share international experiences and perspectives. In addition, a major highlight will be the launch of the 2015 China Ski Industry White Paper, which will be unveiled for the first time at the 2016 Beijing ISPO. This underscores the importance of the dual exhibitions—Beijing ISPO and China Alpitec—in China’s winter snow sports industry.
Mr. Laurent Vanat, founder of Laurent Vanat Consulting, will provide an overview of core data in the international ski resort industry. This will be followed by Mr. Ryley Thiessen, Vice President of Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners, and Mr. Eric Callender, Vice President of Mountain Planning, who will share their expertise on key factors in resort planning and how to successfully develop mountain resorts. Finally, “Chamonix 1924: A Century of Olympic Legacy” will be the topic of the speech by Mr. Alexander Yang, China Market Promotion Manager for the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc region.
The afternoon session will center on current operational solutions and service facilities within the ski industry. With a wealth of content and diverse viewpoints, professionals with many years of experience in the industry, both domestic and international, will share their insights and effective planning approaches regarding human resources and services, youth programs, and infrastructure at ski resorts. Mr. Paul Pinchbeck, CEO of the Canadian Ski Council, will introduce the Canadian ski industry and examples of successful national programs. Mr. Andrea Del Frari, Director of Kronplatz Ski Resort / Plan de Corones, will discuss year-round activity planning for ski areas and the Messner Mountain Museum project in South Tyrol, Italy. Next, Ms. Jennifer De Rose, head of Stoked Education, an educational consulting organization, will give a presentation titled “The Crucial Role of Youth and Women in China’s Winter Sports Industry.” Additionally, Mr. Hiroaki Kono, CEO of Japan’s Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, will present an overview of Japan’s ski industry. The afternoon session will conclude with a speech by Mr. Simon Adams, founder of “One Park” at Dolomiti Ski Resort, on ski park planning.
