The first leg of the 2016 China National Canoe Slalom & Rafting Promotion Season was held on June 25–26 at the Slalom Course of the Guangdong Provincial Boat Training Center. Over 150 athletes from across the country, representing the professional, retired, and open categories, battled the waves in the scorching summer heat, delivering a spectacular "splash fest."
Ms. Gao Fujun, head of the Slalom Project at the Water Sports Administration Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, expressed great delight at the success of the event and looks forward to more opportunities for canoeing to engage closely with the public. It is reported that the 2016 China National Canoe Slalom & Rafting Promotion Season will continue to roll out a series of activities across Guangdong Province, bringing more water sports carnivals to the public during the hot summer months for a refreshing sporting experience.
