With the official release of State Council Document No. 46, national fitness has become a top national development strategy. The State Council’s newly issued five-year sports plan — the “National Fitness Program (2016–2020)” — clearly states that by 2020, China’s total sports consumption will reach 1.5 trillion yuan. Against this backdrop of booming business opportunities in the sports industry, ISPO SHANGHAI 2016 — Asia’s (Summer) Sportswear & Fashion Trade Show — grandly opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from July 6–8. Building on its successful debut in 2015, this year the event once again welcomed about 500 brands from over 20 countries, showcasing the latest products, leading technologies, and cutting-edge trends in the sports industry. With an exhibition area of 33,000 square meters, the show further strengthened its outdoor sports advantages while delving deeper into the cross-industry integration and fusion of multiple categories such as running & fitness, water sports, extreme trends, and sports tourism, collectively building a “sports lifestyle.”
